Oh my God.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I feel like we, I haven't re Whoa.
Track 1:Are you good?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:we haven't recorded in so long. And I was like, what do I do for this? I forget.
Track 1:I feel like I haven't talked to you in, in so long, but that's not necessarily true, but it has been a while. A lot has happened.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I lot has happened.
Track 1:wEll, happy New Year number one.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:happy New
Track 1:Happy New Year. Um, the past two weeks have been Crazy for me. For you too. Crazy.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Uh, like crazy, but just kind of like, really, this is how we're gonna start the year.
Track 1:Oh my God. Just so much going on. I just need to,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Shit. I hope it's just getting it outta the way, like residual stuff from 2023 and then 2024 is gonna be much better. That's what I'm hoping.
Track 1:Oh, for sure. I just like the last, the last week of the year, like is always busy for, for me, for work, just leading up to the new year since where the industry I'm in is like a big, obviously it's like a big drinking industry. It's the nightlife I'm in. So just leading up to the, I mean the New Year's Eve is the biggest night of the year for nightlife really.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:So it just was exhausting. And then this year, or it New Year's Eve ended up like Falling on a Sunday this year, which sucked. So we're usually closed on Sunday, but we are obviously open for New Year's Eve. So it was like a seven day stretch, which this was rough. Are you good? What the fuck? Okay.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I forgot we were podcasting for a second.
Track 1:Okay. She's like admiring her like double chin. She's like looking at herself. Okay.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Um, no, it was crazy'cause like we had Christmas and we hosted Christmas here and so we had like meatballs and lasagna and all that went really well. We had people over all went really well. And then my birthday was the 29th, I turned 25. And so Jose planned like a trip to Charleston'cause we've never been. And so we were there. We came home New Year's Eve, and that was like the best trip we had such a good time.
Track 1:Yeah. How was that? We haven't talked about it.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:It was good. I mean, like,
Track 1:Did you like Charleston?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah, we like stayed. We stayed at the Mills house, which is like downtown, a historic like hotel. And it was really nice. And then we just got up the next, we had dinner that night at a Italian place that was really good. And then we went shopping like the whole next day and just kind of chilled. And then the next morning we drove to Sullivan's Island, which is like the beach. And um, because I was like, I just kind of wanna see what the beaches are like here. We've talked about moving there before.
Track 1:Mm
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:um, yeah. So we went there and then we got a coffee and we drove home.
Track 1:ke I don't think I would move there. Would you? Do you.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I mean, I like it. We would probably, if we moved there, we wouldn't move downtown Charleston. We'd probably move to like Mount Pleasant, which is kind of like in between Charleston and Sullivan's Island. So we like, it would be like a 10 minute bike ride to the beach or something.
Track 1:Yeah.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:like we've talked about having like that type of lifestyle, maybe just experimenting it for a year and seeing if it's just like a quieter type of life
Track 1:Yeah. I mean, you guys are both, yeah. You guys are in a great position where you can do, you can do that, like figure out where you want to go.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:So like yeah, we were just, we wanted to go see it'cause we were talking about it, but we um, yeah we got a coffee at a coffee shop and then we got on the road and it's like four hour drive and so we were like an hour in and it's like once you get like an hour into that drive back home, it's all back roads like
Track 1:Mm-Hmm.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:on the country like. Beef farms type country. And so
Track 1:you say beet? Beet farms?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:like beef,
Track 1:Oh, gross.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:like slaughter farms type.
Track 1:Wonderful.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:like, there's nowhere to stop for lunch. And so we stopped an hour early, like an hour in, and we got food and we were done with our coffees. And so I rolled down my window to like toss my coffee out and I go to put my window back up and my window won't go up
Track 1:Oh,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:and the passenger side. And I'm like, fuck, okay. So then I'm like trying to pull up my window and it like, is not budging and it just like fell.
Track 1:whose car were you in?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:the mine.
Track 1:In the red car? Oh God.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah. And so like, and it's an, it's a 2011, it's an older car. I already have to be careful with it. And I just kind of was like, like, are you kidding me? We had three hours left in this drive. And so I was like, okay, like just get on the road. Like we'll just keep trying to switch and see if like it'll work, work. And then we see like a Dollar General, and I'm like, pull into the Dollar General. I'll get outta the car and we'll like see if we can get it. Couldn't get it. And it was like she would go into the Dollar General and get like tape and trash bags and like tape it up or should I just like put on a coat and like deal with it for three hours.
Track 1:I would've taped that up.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:basically we, I just put on a coat
Track 1:You're funny.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:and for three hours Rero with the window down, which it was
Track 1:sucks.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:me.
Track 1:freezing.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:It was cold. Here, I'll show you this picture.
Track 1:It's so cold.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:It was cold
Track 1:Ew. Yeah. No, you're so cute. It's so cold. Speaking of weather, I don't think I can live in Charlotte much longer. Dude, it's so cold. It's so cold here. I don't know how many more winters I've got in me. I really don't. It's really cold. Like this weekend it was, it was cold and raining and it was like icy and slating this weekend. It just was horrible.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:mom said it was even cold in Charlotte this past week. We
Track 1:I,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:about it.
Track 1:I'm in Charlotte
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I mean, sorry. Sarasota
Track 1:I know. She said it was in the forties.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah. It's been cold here too. It mean it was cold in Charleston, so
Track 1:Ugh.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I
Track 1:I just don't like it. It everything hurts.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Move south.
Track 1:And it's not even like, it would be better'cause like during the day it's not as bad. But like when I get home, it's like 2:00 AM I gotta take the dogs out. It's freaking freezing.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah, that's true.
Track 1:It's so cold,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:true.
Track 1:but a lot has happened the past two weeks. I, um, got a new place.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yay.
Track 1:Yeah, I signed a lease. Oh my God. Chloe's, do you hear that? Is my, is my computer dinging? Chloe is blowing my phone up with stupid words.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:With what, what is
Track 1:just, it's Chloe, she's just texting me. Stupid words. Okay. Okay. Anyways.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:my swamp? Chloe
Track 1:Yeah, she's just said penis, poopy, She said, what are you doing? Screwing I fucking hate it here.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:God,
Track 1:Um, no. Yeah. I found a new place. I found a new place and I got, yeah, everything went through, it got approved and I move in on the 1st of February.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Oh shit. That's soon.
Track 1:I know, I know.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Do you need help moving?
Track 1:Uh, I don't know yet. I haven't really thought it all through. I've already,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:well, let me
Track 1:I mean, you could kind of see behind me, I like have boxes. I've already like started packing everything up.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:Um, yeah, I just, like, I, my lease here in my house now isn't up until March, but I like, it's rare.'cause you know, this will be my fifth place in Charlotte, so that's a lot I'm tired of. I'm tired of moving. I'm so tired of moving. So I found a beautiful house that, um, is newly renovated and it's bigger. I like, you know, I needed to up, I needed more space.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Mm-Hmm?
Track 1:so it's bigger, it's three bedrooms, um, and
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Oh,
Track 1:Fully fenced in, which was the only thing, the only thing that I cared about with the dogs. So I wanted to jump on it like as fast as possible. So I did and they approved everything and they approved the dogs, which, you know, is a big deal.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:Um, that's usually my biggest obstacle is getting, um, a house where they approve my beautiful breed
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Well, even like a fenced in yard would be helpful too. You haven't had a fenced in yard?
Track 1:Yeah, that was a non-negotiable since I got sunshine.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah,
Track 1:I needed a fenced in yard. The bitch is crazy. She gave me a really big scare the other day. I didn't tell you
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:yeah. What's going on?
Track 1:she's fine. She was shitting blood, Abby and not funny It was so bad. Abby and
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:told me, mom goes, I was on FaceTime with her and she showed me and she was like, I saw this big puddle of blood. Like Abby, even I got a little scared
Track 1:No,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:and
Track 1:it was
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I go, I go, Amy, where is that coming from? And you go, her asshole mom.
Track 1:Oh yeah, she straight, she, so this is what happened. She was started like not feeling good on Saturday and I noticed and I was like, Hmm, okay. Um, and then on New Year's Day I was like, okay, I'm not gonna feed her this food.'cause I had changed her food on Friday and then she started not feeling good on Saturday. So I was like, okay, I'm not giving her this food. So me and my, uh, girlfriend Melanie went to Target to get her original food that they had been out of and Bailey was at the house with her. Um, I. And me and Mel were at Target and then we were, me and Melanie were driving back home and Bailey called me and was like, Hey, she just like shit on the floor. And I was like, okay, well I'll be there. Like in, I'm like pulling in the driveway in like five minutes. She's like, okay. So I come in and I walk inside and I was like, Bailey, that is not good. And she was like, what? Bailey's so clueless. She's never like, she doesn't get like the dog thing, so she doesn't know.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:And she was like, I mean, okay. And I'm like, oh my God. Okay. And I looked at Bailey, I'm like, I'm really freaking out. And she's like, dunno what to do, dude. I don't like, she like had no idea. Do you wanna see what I saw? Look this.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:guess
Track 1:Yeah,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:that's black.
Track 1:I know. Just straight black blood on the floor.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:That
Track 1:you know, you know how I am. I'm like, we're, I immediately am like, okay, my dog's dying.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:That's a little scary.
Track 1:Like, I was like, she's internally bleeding. Something's wrong. I've missed all the signs. This is it Like,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:I go from zero to a hundred panic. Um, and I was like, we need to go to the emergency room. So I threw in the car and we went to the emergency room and I was a psychopath. Like I cried to everything. There was, when we were going in, there was a dog, I mean, it's like 9 30, 10 o'clock at night.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Mm-Hmm.
Track 1:there's like a giant dog, like a mast. He looked like a polar bear, was in the back of this guy's car as we're like pulling in. And the doctors are like coming from inside with a stretcher. And I like just started bawling my eyes out and I'm already like upset. So I'm like, Bailey, oh my god, the dog needs a stretcher. She's like, oh my God, we have got to get home. So we like go inside and the dog's name was tiny and he was so big. I was so sad. Anyway, so we go inside whatever and I'm crying and um, we weigh Sonny. She's her normal weight. I'm like thinking she's lost 20 pounds in the last day. Like I'm freaking out. She was completely normal weight. And um, I hear the nurse behi come up behind me and say something to the other tech that is weighing sunshine and they like say something to her. And then the tech that was with us weighing her was like, we're just gonna put you guys right here. So it's an emergency room. So it's like An open floor plan, basically. And then like on this, like, so they treat everybody in the, in the open area, and then they have like side rooms. So the tech that I'm with, someone says something to her and then the tech goes, we're just gonna, uh, sunny seems like a little bit nervous, so we're just gonna put you guys in this, in this private room. And I like, look at Bailey. And I'm like, sunshine is not nervous. Like, the bitch was fine. Like, she was like super herself. And I'm like, okay. And I like, we get in the room and I close and they close the door and we're like, they're like, the doctor will be right with you guys. And I look at Ben like they're putting her down. They're gonna tell me she's gotta be put down. And Bailey's like Bailey's, like, they haven't even looked at her, Amy. And I'm like, why did they give us a pirate room? She's like, because you're a psychopath and you're bawling your arms down. You're scaring everybody. I was
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Study's not the one that's showing signs. You're the one showing signs.
Track 1:Yeah, she was like, they're gonna put you down, bitch. Relax, figure it out. they were like, they haven't even looked at her yet. And I'm like, I don't know Bailey, I think they're gonna put her down. I was like, why would they put us in a room? They know something's wrong. They know she's internally bleeding. This is it. So they were great though. And they were totally like, they were like, no, you did the right thing. But like, yeah, I think it's, it's really just the food. She's just inflamed. And I'm like, you bitch, you just cost me$500 because you didn't like your food.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:that's
Track 1:I,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:weird that, that she was pooping out that kind amount of blood for just food.
Track 1:well, they explained it to me. I mean, and you know, pities are so sensitive. They're little tummies. I mean, I went through this with Drax and he was her age too, so, oh my God. Stress me the fuck out.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:just testing you, making sure you're on your toes.
Track 1:Oh my God. No. Yeah, for real. But like, the vet was great. She was like, no, you did the right thing. But like, yeah, it's really, she like explained like how the food affects everything. So the bitch just got an IV and I was sent home with a probiotic, like,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:No, she's good.
Track 1:and now she is completely fine. Completely fine.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Well, that's good.
Track 1:Yeah. So it was just a lot.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:this,
Track 1:It,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:that was this week.
Track 1:it prevented like between New Year's Eve shifts and sunshine, um, like freaking me out. And then that house, like I barely was able to read.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah, so that, so we didn't release an episode last week because you had sunshine and all those things. And then Jose and I came home. Um, we came home New Year's Eve that night. We went to, we literally were home for like an hour. I washed my face, put on makeup, and we went to his parents' house. They were doing a party for New Year's, and we were there till midnight. We came home, went to bed, woke up the next morning and I'm like cleaning everything. I'm putting the Christmas tree down. I'm like, in a good mood, put the record player on, Jose's like, I'm just not really feeling well. And I was like, okay, well, like we got these like biscuits at the breakfast we had the morning before. I was like, here, just sit and like drink tea and like have a biscuit that'll help your stomach. I'm like, cleaning. And then he like, is down for the count, doesn't feel well. And I kid you not like an hour later I was like, I'm not feeling well. And we both, I think had the stomach flu
Track 1:Yeah.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:it just like took us out and um, it was like one, it was just horrible. I haven't had like a stomach pains, like, like the stomach flu in so long and we had like low grade fevers, like he wasn't throwing up or anything, but I was throwing up like it was just like a whole thing.
Track 1:I forgot you had that.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:yeah,
Track 1:I,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I started feeling we better on Friday, today. Sunday. So, yeah. But
Track 1:well, good. Yeah. It must have been just like, I mean, like every, there's so much going on right now.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:yeah, there's so much like Amanda said, like Will had COVID like, so we were, I was nervous we were gonna get COVID again, so I was kind of being careful but I didn't think we would get the stomach flu.
Track 1:Yeah.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I was just thinking it would be covid again,
Track 1:That sucks. That sucks. But yeah, I, um, have been reading obviously Icebreaker, which we'll talk about today, and then I've been reading the second a guitar book,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Mm-Hmm.
Track 1:which has just completely overtaken my whole life.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:Oh my God, it's so good. So I've been going back and forth, but
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:know. I need to, I need to read that.
Track 1:Oh my God. Dude, hold on. Mom is fucking calling me. Hello? You don't love me anymore. I'm podcasting. You're what? We're podcasting. Oh, sorry. Hi, everybody. You don't love me anymore? Why wouldn't I love you? I FaceTimed you this morning. This morning. Oh, I was probably asleep. Oh, okay. We'll go back to your podcast. Tell her hey. Okay. All right. I'll call you when I'm done. Bye. Love you. All right. Fuck you too then.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Um, that's funny.
Track 1:She's so needy.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:were
Track 1:She's so.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:she is needy. When we were in Charleston, I, he brought me to this bookstore. We always find a bookstore and, um, I got some books that I'm gonna put on her
Track 1:Oh yeah, me and Melanie are going to the bookstore today, but I told her, I was like, I don't need to buy any books. I need to start reading off my Kindle again. I haven't been reading all my Kindle. Um,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Um. Hold on talking about Kendall. went, I was going through my Kindle'cause I wanted to read a Kindle Unlimited book this past week. I just need something to read. um, I think they took, I know the new, the sequel to Divine Rivals isn't Kindle Unlimited. I think they also took Divine Rivals off of Kendall Unlimited
Track 1:they probably did.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:because when I went to go look at it, I went to go return it and, um, was, it was like delete it. It wasn't like return to Kindle Unlimited. So I guess it's just like stuck in my, my Kindle now unless I wanna
Track 1:Cute.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:it.
Track 1:I'm hearing that. Um, what is it, kindred Spirits, is that, is that what the next one's called?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:No. Um,
Track 1:Yeah, it's,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:up. I
Track 1:it's like kindred something. I hear it's really good
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah. But everyone said that Divine Rivals was really
Track 1:fucking facts. You're right. But I liked divine rivals. I don't want people to think we didn't like divine rivals. I mean, I liked it. They can think you don't like it. I liked it. I do wanna read the second one.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:vows,
Track 1:What the fuck did I say? Kindred spirits.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:kindred spirit,
Track 1:What the fuck?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:No, I don't, I still wanna
Track 1:Okay.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:sequel. I'm still interested, but, um, I mean, we had a whole episode on that, so that's But I chose the book. Well, I haven't, we haven't even done our intro
Track 1:Okay, let's talk about it.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:talking.
Track 1:Go ahead.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:so guys, welcome back to my sister. Made me read it
Track 1:20, 30 minutes in. Okay.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:minutes in. Um, thanks for tuning in to this chaotic podcast. As always. Today we're diving into Icebreaker by Hannah Grace. Uh, this was my book this week. Um, I wanted a book. I've been wanting to read this book for a while because I. I've seen a lot of like good things about it, and I knew it was just gonna be like an easy pleasurable read. I knew with like holidays pleasurable, it was way
Track 1:Oh yeah.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:than I thought
Track 1:Sci Emphasis on the pleasurable
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:But
Track 1:I
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I knew with like the
Track 1:loved this book so much.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I was reading it. I mean like, I don't, I feel like the first sex scene's like, yeah, it's like 10 pages in. And
Track 1:I loved this book,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:oh my God. I did not know. It was like, I knew it was spicy. Did not know
Track 1:She shocked me. She, I was shocked. I was very surprised.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:but like,
Track 1:But it was like good smut, like it was good sex scenes.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:written really well. Yeah,
Track 1:Yeah. Which surprised me.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:before we got on here of like, I didn't write notes on this book like I usually do when we do these podcasts because like I, I think I was just so into it, but also like, it's not like one of those books that you're gonna be pulling like Quotes from and be like, this is so cool that she said it was just like a good read.
Track 1:Mm-Hmm.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:It wasn't anything like, um, philosophical
Track 1:yeah.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:anything.
Track 1:Right, right, right. Not anything like super deep, but I mean, like, parts of it kind of were, I've really liked this book a lot and like I was telling as I was talking to people about it, like as I was reading, I was like, I don't know what I expected out of it. I, I mean, it's definitely, I wouldn't say it's a ya novel.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:No. It's
Track 1:I
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:or new adult.
Track 1:mean they're, I mean the characters are, are in their twenties, early twenties, college age. But I mean, the way it's written is, is not for anybody under 18 Maybe six. I don't know. It's quite spicy. Um, I. these are the most emotionally mature college people I've ever read about.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah. Which is nice to read about. Which is
Track 1:was so refreshing. I was like, this is really a great book.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I feel like the only person who wasn't was
Track 1:Fucking Aaron.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:the, the figure skater partner. And I didn't like, like, I didn't like reading him because he wa I felt like he didn't match up to everybody else. But I know that was on purpose.'cause like he's technically the bad guy with the book.
Track 1:Mm-Hmm.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:But, um, I didn't like reading his stuff, but, um,
Track 1:Yeah. Uh, okay. Do you wanna give a brief synopsis?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:yeah, basically the brief synopsis is they go to this college together. Um, between the sports teams, there's been like a lot of pranks and stuff. There's, uh, been a prank that ruined the, like, air conditioning unit in the, they
Track 1:Rich, you're just jumping right in there. You're not gonna, okay. We've got, we've got too many characters. We've got Anastasia, we've got Nathan One's a figure skater, one's a hockey player, team Captain Anastasia's, a pair figure skater. Um, her and her, uh, partner Aaron are on the trajectory for the Olympic America Olympic team.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:so that's kind of their goal. And then Nathan is the captain of the hockey team and he is already signed to go play in Vancouver in the NHL. And um, so that's kind of where we're at. These are two young people who, whose their sport is their life. Um, and some shenanigans, they don't know each other and some shenanigans have happened. They obviously both have an ice sport, so they, they have that in common. Um. And some prank happened where the figure skating ice rink is out of commission. So now there's only one ice rink, they have to share an ice rink. And Anastasia is upset about this because her competition to qualify for the Olympics is coming up. Um, so it kind of interferes with her, her plans for practice and all of that stuff. So Nathan, the team captain is little, is, is trying to kind of like make it right. And that's kind of where we start, start the book.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Well, he was just like being nice from the very beginning. So they get called into like the athletic, I guess I just kind of like imagined it as like a big conference room, like GC had one. Um, get called, like all the sports get called into it. And basically, basically they all get yelled at to stop doing pranks because now it's actually like causing a lot of damage. And then the figure skaters, hockey, skate, hockey players get told to like stay. They get told you're gonna be like sharing an ice rink
Track 1:Mm-Hmm.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Meaning is adjourned. And like goes up to her and like apologizes.'cause she's obviously like upset on her face. She's obviously
Track 1:She's crying. Yeah.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:'cause she's like, this is because the hockey players like to like play
Track 1:Are fucking around too much. Yeah.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah. so he tries, he just like instantly tries to be nice to her.
Track 1:They're so cute. Felt like at first, like, and this is very, uh, like boys are kind of like this. She wanted nothing to do with him. Like, she was like, okay. Like,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:mm-Hmm.
Track 1:was like trying to be nice to her, which is great.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Mm-Hmm.
Track 1:I think he, captain of the hockey team. obviously very attractive, like six five. Like I don't think he's used to rejection and not that he went in with any like intention of like, oh, I'm gonna sweep this girl up. He genuinely was ups, like, sorry for what was happening. He understood,'cause he kind of can understand the severity of like, um, things not going well for your, your sport. So he was generally concerned, but then when she was like, okay, like ew will get away from me, like, he was like, okay, I'm gonna win you over Like, you know what I mean?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah. It's like the whole chase thing, but, um, like chasing a girl, but, um, you learn like the type of captain he is. He's not like the type of captain that's the jock and like sleeps with all the women and like the hockey team, like applauds him for it. He's very much like caring, like. So you find out about how Russ is behind this whole prank thing, how um, it was like a miscommunication that he slept with somebody, slept with a girl from another team. And she ends up getting pregnant and she blames the pregnancy on him and it wasn't his and all these things. And Nate like brings him into his room and is like, tell me the truth. I know, like, you look suspicious. And he's like, okay. Like this stays between me and you. Because he knew his situation. Like he was on scholarship. His parents couldn't afford to send him to school. Like he couldn't afford to get in trouble. And um, so like you learn like the character, not just like the character character, but like the character of him, of Nate a little bit more as the book, like progresses of like, this guy actually caress about people a little
Track 1:He does, he is the sweetest, sweetest baby. And he really, like, I was waiting for it to fall because like he comes in, he comes in super sweet and genuine and like, I was like, oh God, he's gonna break my heart. He is gonna do something wrong.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:And he really doesn't. He really doesn't, he really, really honestly doesn't like, there was like a few times where they kind of plot twisted a little bit to make it look like, oh, like, like when they were in the club and Aaron was like, ask your boyfriend. I was like, no. I knew it was coming But like nothing, he doesn't do like everything that he does and everything that he gets like quote unquote blamed for is out of like protection of the people that he loved. And I really loved him so much. I really did.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah. I,
Track 1:very sweet.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:too. so tech technically, the tr the, um, trope for this book would be like Girl and Sunshine Boy. That's what like you call it, because she's very much like against it. She doesn't wanna get in a relationship because, um.
Track 1:love her too. I loved these characters
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:like career oriented. Like she just wants to be successful. And so she has a friends with benefits situation going on with Ryan,
Track 1:who's also great. Fucking loved Ryan too. I mean, they're great
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I, yeah, like when he starts, I mean this is giving habit when he starts wanting to go out with, what
Track 1:Liv.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:name? Was it
Track 1:Mm-Hmm.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Um, like, yeah, like we have to stop this. Like, I'm having feelings for this other girl. And it was like, yeah, that's how you're supposed to do it.
Track 1:But then, but he was always, but like honestly and there was some parts that like, I didn't think it was weird, but I was like, this is so progressive. Because like there was like parts where they were so, so like at the beginning of the book where introduced to Ryan, who is her friends with benefits, I guess we can call him for lack of better words, he's like the basketball star. Um, and Stassi and Ryan like have such a great relationship and they were kind of written to be like best friends really, but who like have sex and you know, but they had like kind of this understanding that like, you know, we're not like gonna date. Like she didn't want anything to do with like, any commitment because of her career. And that was her focus, which I thought was amazing. Like, yeah, you're right. Do that. So when he started like. Being interested in dating somebody. She was so supportive and she was like, you deserve to, to, if this is what you want, yeah, go figure it out. Go date her. But they were still able to have such a strong relationship and like friendship.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah. Well, and then like we find out about how she's like undereating
Track 1:Mm-Hmm.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:on in the book and like early on in the book you get inklings of that because Aaron's like, eat more like here have this
Track 1:Ryan is like, eat more. Yeah,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:sorry. Yeah. Ryan is like encouraging that.
Track 1:yeah,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:and um, that was even like nice to see
Track 1:But it was even nice to see how like, and it was interesting to see the dynamics kind of unfold when she does start kind of having feelings for Nathan and then seeing how like Ryan and Nate would interact and at first Nate was like, Hmm, I gotta keep my eye on this guy. Like this is kind of fucking weird. But then he realized like, no, he truly just has her her best interest in mind. And
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:yeah, it was really, and I was like, these people are really progressive because it could never be me.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:yeah. Even like when she was ta I guess when they were talking, her and Ryan were talking about Nate and how he was just kind of being around more and more. Ryan was like, yeah, Nate's a cool guy. Like I
Track 1:Yeah, Ryan was so supportive. He was like, Nate is great. Like, you need to get your shit together. Stassi. Like, Nate's amazing. Like,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:he was so supportive. And you know what's so funny there? The one scene that I keep thinking about was, um, fucking Lola's a messy bitch. I love her but I loved her. But she's messy as fuck. So Lola's the best friend. Lola is, um, Sassy's best friend, and they live together. And Lola starts dating Robbie, who's so, who's like the assistant coach, basically of the, of the hockey team. Um, and is friends with Nathan. So it's cute'cause it's kind of like,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:childhood friends.
Track 1:right. So they're kind of like, uh, Stassi and Lola are best friends. And then like Nate and Robbie are best friends and they're kind of like dating, you know, um. There's one scene where Ryan, I think Stassi was like upset about Aaron. So like, Ryan came over and they didn't sleep together or anything. Like, like I said, like they're just friends. Like they have a great friendship.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:So he was over and had spent the night with Stassi and Lola's ass comes in on FaceTime with Robbie and like, just barges in and jumps in the fucking bed with Ryan and, and Stassy and is like, Hey, like we're all together. And Nathan is on the other line too, and Nate's like, what the fuck? like, why are you in bed with my girl? But they weren't like dating yet. Like, you know, it was still so early on, but like Nate was like, uh, and I was like, Lola
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:but that's why.
Track 1:girl.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:in, she went in the room because Nate sent them the jerseys.
Track 1:I know he sent him Georgie's with their names on it.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:so she was like opening up. He was like, okay, open up your presents. And she's like, okay, we're opening up our presents.
Track 1:I would've kicked her ass. I've been like, bitch
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I mean, yeah, but like, and it, I, I think it's because it was written so well, it wasn't even like, oh, alarms. Alarms. Like, it was just kind of like, yeah, they're friends.
Track 1:No, I know, I know. And that's why like, it's funny, like I say, like these are the most emotionally mature like young adults I've ever seen.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:And Ryan's just in the back like, babe, sorry dude. Like I'm just not what it looks like
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:And they're just, they kind of just move on from it, like Nate. And it's interesting because like they communicate so well and I think that's a big, big onassis's part. So like, then we kind of get like into some deeper things. Like we find out Stassi Hass adopted and um,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Mm-Hmm.
Track 1:she's always had this like drive to like, compete. And she's so, um, for lack of better words, like she's a control freak. Like she plans everything. And, um, kind of as a. I don't know what the word right word would be. Not a symptom, but like a side. Not side effect either, but because her personality is like that. She's been in therapy her whole life,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:so she's been in therapy her whole life. So I feel like because of that, she has the tools to like communicate properly and, and healthfully. And that shines, like in this book, like when we see her start to kind of develop a romantic connection with Nathan, she's very clear on her communication. She's very clear on like her expectations and like, this is what I want out of this.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Mm-Hmm.
Track 1:very, she kind of creates space for him to kind of respond. And she never really like blames him or gets upset with him when he isn't, when they're not on the same page about things. Like she's just so, she communicates beautifully. And I think, I think because of that, it gives Nathan space to communicate. Beautifully back to her. You know, I just loved it.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah, because like early, so they kind of. Quote unquote get together when, um, Nate is like planning this party for Robbie and he goes to Stassi and is like, Hey, Robbie and Lola have been hitting it off. Like he would like Lola if, if I'm planning a surprise party, he wants Lola to be there. And um, so the girls end up showing to this party and that's when like, she goes to the bathroom, like he takes, lets her go to his bathroom upstairs so she doesn't have to wait and all that. And that's when she like, I guess they kind of the whole, like, she's like, I don't want a relationship. That's why I do friends with benefits with Ryan. But he kind of like, well, no, not that at that point he hadn't yet. But, um, yeah, what I'm saying is like that's when they, they start introducing, like it was never, Hey, we're boyfriend and girlfriend. They weren't boyfriend and girlfriend till like the end of
Track 1:At the end of the book. Yeah.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:So it was very much like he let her kind of. Dictate how fast they went or like to what degree, or like how they did things because he knew she wasn't comfortable doing those things and that he also knew, like her sport came first the same way that he felt like sometimes his sport came first his life.
Track 1:Yeah. I'm trying to find the scene. Hold on,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:Donna. Ooh. So good.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Well, yeah, I think that's the first, I mean, that's definitely the first sex scene between them.
Track 1:Yeah, it definitely is the first sex scene between them and that kind of like sparked something. So they, they didn't have sex that night. Um, I. But they fooled around and then she ran the fuck away.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:said, oh yeah, that was fun, I guess. But she was drunk and she just like ran away and she like avoided him for like the next two weeks. Um,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Mm-Hmm.
Track 1:yeah. Let's talk about fucking Aaron Carlisle.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Okay.
Track 1:Okay, this guy's a
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:a
Track 1:snake.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Glad we have the
Track 1:I'm so glad. We agree. He is a solitary sli snake. This motherfucker. I didn't like him from the start, but I did not think it was as bad as it was
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I hated him more than I hated Dane reading.
Track 1:really. That's so funny that you, that you, uh, did a callback to fourth wing because I was thinking when I was reading about, um, I. How Nate and Stasia's relationship was and how like mature they were acting and communicating. I was like, this is the type of energy I needed from Violet and Zayden. Like, not like the Well, you didn't ask me. Well, you didn't say, well you didn't do this. Well, you didn't do this. Like that's, we needed this energy, like violence needs her therapist asap.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Very true.
Track 1:Yeah. So that's funny that you brought that back. Um,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Because I felt like with Aaron it was always manipulative. It was always like, not for lack of like knowledge. It was like he knew what he was doing to keep control because
Track 1:oh, for sure.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:so and Lola live with Aaron and the only reason they live in this nice apartment is because of Aaron and because his parents
Track 1:It's a trust fund baby.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah. Pay for a huge chunk of it. So he already has that control over them. And then like messed up is it that when he's lifting her and he's like, when they're skating and he's like grunting and telling her that she's too heavy
Track 1:She can't be more than 84 pounds. I mean, this is a small figure skater.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:Holy shit.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:It's so messed up.
Track 1:So he's like making like snide comments. So he, she trusts Aaron so much. I mean, it's her partner. It's who she's, um, competed with for a long time. It's who she's been able to get to this point of like going to the Olympics and um, kind of fulfilling her dream with,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Mm-Hmm.
Track 1:I mean, when you are in a partnered sport like that, like you spend every waking second together anyways because you're constantly training, but then they also live together. So she has so much trust in Erin and. Because of that, he completely manipulates her. And it's, it takes advantage of her. And it's so sad to see, but he's in control of her diet. She's on like a meal plan and it kind of, she's so, and I can totally understand this, she's going back to my own background with, uh, meal plans and food and things like that. Like when you have such like a mindset, like Stassi already does like a control mindset and you have to follow a meal plan. Like, it's a sense of control that like, is so hard to let go of. So I, I totally understand. She's like, I have to stick to my meal plan. I have to stick to my meal plan, I have to stick to my meal plan. Like, you know, I'm not gonna be good enough. I'm not gonna be able to, um, you know, me and Erin aren't gonna be able to do like our stunts if I like weigh a half a pound more than I do now. I have to like stick to this. And throughout the book there's a theme of like people noticing her, um. Kind of disordered thoughts and habits around food. And it kind of comes to light when her and Nathan start becoming close. It kind of comes to light that like this meal plan that Erin has you on is kind of fucked.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Well,'cause Nate is also an exercise science major.
Track 1:Mm-Hmm.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:And then on top of that he does hockey. So he like does his own not as strict type of meal plan.
Track 1:Well, when you're in that, I mean, that was my major too. So like, not only was that like what I studied in school, but what I had to study for work.'cause I was in the fitness industry. So it's like you have like a base knowledge of like what you should,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:should
Track 1:you should be eating. Like, or like
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:least like a base knowledge of like,'cause it's such a misconception of like, um, you know, like you need to eat less to like I don't know. It's just, it's difficult to explain, but even if you're just studying it like Nathan did, like you have like such a base knowledge, he just could, he just knew that it was fucking wrong. He's like, this is not right. Like
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:But even when like talking about like his communication and them being so mature, even when he brought that up, I think he was heed, like, I mean obviously he was heated'cause he was, he freaking hated Aaron, which is like, yeah, we all do. But like, he was so like Careful, like tiptoeing around her and being like, I, I just, I want you, I'm doing this because I care for you. And like, I, I want you
Track 1:which is
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:undereating,
Track 1:huh?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:is why you have all these bruises on your body,
Track 1:Mm-Hmm. shoes. Malnourished.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:is, yeah.
Track 1:And you're right. That's a good theme to bring up. He is very gentle with things and I think it's be not even just with the food, I think he understands, um. He didn't wanna say the wrong thing because she would run the opposite way because like, she had this trust in Aaron. Um, she had history with Aaron. She had her future with Aaron because he, she was dependent on him before her career at this point. And even when he, Aaron would cause trouble, he was very careful and understood like, okay, this is fucked and I know this is fucked, but I'm gonna be careful because she is the most important thing to me and, um, I wanna protect her from this person. But I also have to understand like, this is not somebody she can completely separate from. And I don't, I think it was a matter of like, he was afraid she would choose him over her, which she kind of does for a minute
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Uh, yeah. Like, um,
Track 1:with the arm scene
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:the arm
Track 1:when he breaks his arm.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:he breaks his arm? Yeah.
Track 1:Yeah.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Um,
Track 1:So we're going through the book. Stassi and Nay are not exclusive, but everybody knows they're kind of like together, right?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:they're, yeah. They're like flirting. They're like sleeping together.
Track 1:Um, and there's a scene where they're out for Halloween, and then her partner Aaron shows up and he's in a sling and like, causes like a fucking scene. Andy's like Aaron, like, what the fuck are you good? Like, what happened? And he, he just goes, ask your boyfriend. And Nate's like, what dude? Like
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:did I do?
Track 1:what? Like what the fuck do you mean?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:So it, I, chaos kind of ensued. They're at the club, she like, looks at Nate, and Nate's like, what? And then everybody's kinda like, what? And um, she leaves with Aaron
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Mm-Hmm?
Track 1:and she doesn't know what to believe.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:Um, but basically like what happens is Aaron is saying that someone pranked him and, and, um, someone told him that they saw Nate put like water or something under his locker to make him fall. So he,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:and.
Track 1:his story is he slipped and fell, broke his arm. Now he can't skate. So the hockey team gets sat down, the coach is pissed. He's like, who the fuck did this? And no one is, is stepping up to say, because nobody did it. Like Aaron is literally just making shit up just to be, be a fucktard. So,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Because
Track 1:um,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:been spending more time with Nate
Track 1:more time with Nate and he's a jealous little bitch. So he, the coach is like, listen, if no one um, fesses up, then we're gonna bench all of you and our season's over. So as the captain, Nate's like, I fucking did it. Which he didn't, but he takes the fall. Coach knows he didn't do it. And coach is like, fuck.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:no choice.
Track 1:Yeah. He's like, Jesus Christ, Nate. Alright.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:don't wanna bench the team. If
Track 1:Right?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:did it
Track 1:they kind of are in a weird position. So now the thing is, now, okay, Nathan, you can't, you can't, um, I almost said ski, you can't play hockey until Aaron can skate again.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Skate.
Track 1:now Aaron's out, which is in turn means Stassi iss out, which in turn means Nate is out.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Mm-Hmm.
Track 1:all kind of benched and they're all kind of like, what the fuck? So what ends up happening, Stassi is toying with her thought. She's like, thinks she, she hears that Nate confessed to it
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:and is upset.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I don't think she ever truly
Track 1:She didn't.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:it.
Track 1:No.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:was like her fears coming. It like, sometimes when you have those fears and you're kind of not looking, but maybe have that part of you that's looking for a way out, and it, it kind of like presented itself. It was like, okay, maybe I should like
Track 1:I think she didn't know what to believe.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:did that night.
Track 1:I think she didn't know what to believe because on one hand she has her partner, who she's been loyal to for years, saying one thing, and then on another hand she has this boy, she's falling in love with that she's known for two months. So she's like, what? Like, I don't know who to believe.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Mm-Hmm.
Track 1:which is sad to watch, but I don't think she truly knew that he did it. I think, and I think she, at this point, I think she knew that Aaron was kind of, had some, some weird motives with things. So I think she recognized that too.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:I don't think she ever really truly believed that Nathan did it. But she kind of like isolates herself. And then when she finally I think her Nate like, don't talk for like two weeks. And then Nate's just like, I can't do this anymore. He goes to her house and she's, they talk and she's like, I know. He's like, I didn't do it. Stassy. And she's like, no, I know. Like she believes him and they're fine now.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:Um, but what happens is she needs a skating partner and or to practice. She needs to practice.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:No.
Track 1:We're missing when she fell.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I was just about to say When did she fall? It was
Track 1:I don't know. There's a lot that goes on. But it was before his injury. Oh no.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:He came back. Doesn't he come back? And then he has to go. The
Track 1:He comes back, he's like, gets cleared and then they're skating again and he fucking drops her. And of course it's her fault because she's too fat. So he's so gross. Aaron is so gross. But Aaron drops her, his risk gives out. He's back on the be or he back. His back can't skate again. What sentence did I just say?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I don't know.
Track 1:Holy shit. He can't skate. He can't skate again. So Sassy's upset. Now she needs a partner to practice skating,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:well
Track 1:but she's also scared.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:when she, so they do like a competition. It's their first competition back and he drops her and she like hits her head on the ice. Or no, she like falls and she like skids against the, um, like border of the ice rink
Track 1:Mm-Hmm.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:head on the border. And, um, she gets sent to the hospital, I think to get looked over.
Track 1:But like Nathan was there and like grabbed her and how? Oh, he's so fucking perfect.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah. I'm trying to remember, I
Track 1:I love him.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:week ago. Um,
Track 1:Anyways.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:yeah, so then Erin's out again and so she like has this fear now of like being lifted because like, I don't wanna fall again.
Track 1:Mm-Hmm.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:so that's when they kind of like decide, well, they decide that Aaron's, I mean, uh, Nate's gonna help her
Track 1:practice her routines. Yeah.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah. With practicing her routines and then that becomes into like lifting her and she's still so scared and he's like, I've lifted you many, many times, During sexual acts, like, um, you can trust, like you can trust me, but she's still like so scared. so he takes her to the swimming pool
Track 1:Mm-Hmm.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:practice in the pool, which is so like Dirty D, dirty dancing. you
Track 1:Is it? Is it so dirty dancing. Did they go to the swimming pool?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:No. But have you seen Dirty Dancing?
Track 1:No, but I know how he lifts her up.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah, in Dirty Dancing. They're practicing like a dance routine that they have to do and he lifts her and so to practice it,'cause they're gonna fall, a lot of times they go to like this lake and they practice it in the lake so she can fall in the water.
Track 1:Oh, cute.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:like a, it's like an infamous scene from Dirty dancing.
Track 1:Oh, well, and not Infa infamous enough. Apparently.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I'm not, apparently not, but um, so like when they go to the pool I'm like alright, this is like dirty dancing 2.0. But so they practice this lift over and over again in the pool and um, then they go back on the ice and they
Track 1:Yeah,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:and
Track 1:he's so cute.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:so light.
Track 1:He's like, you're so fucking light. Like, what is wrong with Aaron? Like he's such a dick. Yeah. I love Nate so much. Like reading books like this makes me never wanna date ever again. I'm serious just like, if it's not this and I don't fucking want it. He's so great to her. He like tells her how good she is and like, I just love him, but
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:he is definitely a words of affirmation type of guy.
Track 1:Oh my God, he's so amazing. Did you have like people in your head while you were reading this?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:What do you mean? Like people I imagined
Track 1:Yeah,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:No, for Nate. Um, I kind of like imagined my own person, but then you sent me the Jacob picture and I was like, yeah, that's a, that's similar,
Track 1:dude,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:but like I imagine like sandy hair
Track 1:I didn't, when I was reading this book, I straight up imagined like Jacob all lordy from euphoria, like euphoria, Jacob all lordy,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah,
Track 1:that's like who I imagined, like him looking like, not his personality, but like who, who he like looked like. It's like they're like the same age, same stature. I mean, Jacob all lordy is the biggest man ever. Oh my God. I can't even talk about it.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Who'd you imagine for Stassi?
Track 1:Um, you know, and it's weird because She's described differently than, than the person that I imagined her as.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Mm-Hmm?
Track 1:But I think because I've been seeing, um, I imagined her as Lydia from Teen Wolf. And I'll tell you why, because she's tiny. She's cute on the book. This looks like a fucking redhead.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah. She's like a strawberry blonde is how I
Track 1:Okay. So she's redhead, um, beautiful face, big eyes, um, and spicy, like, like bites back a little bit.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah,
Track 1:And that's how her character,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:good.
Track 1:that's how her character was. Like, um, like her styles like had, like that banter and teen wolf, you know, like that's kind of how I imagined them.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah. I imagined either, I don't know the real names, but the girl from and Stranger Things, the Redhead and Stranger Things, or the girl in Bridger, main Daphne in Bridger 10,
Track 1:Oh, I, no.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:she dated Pete Davidson. Yeah, I don't, I imagine those two like, like, like nicer, like cheekbones and features, like almost like glass type of skin, that type of like, look.
Track 1:Well, that's kind of how Lydia was. Let's look her up.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah, she was,
Track 1:I don't know. That's what, that's what what I imagined.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:that's a, I mean, that's a good one too. Um,
Track 1:uh, but
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Harry as like a styles though. I could see that.
Track 1:Henry,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Henry. Sorry,
Track 1:I fucking love Henry. Their, their relationship kind of was weird though.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Henry. And a little bit, at first it was like, yeah, this is a little weird. And then it kind of got, okay. Well, but um, there's a second. So these are like, this is a series with standalones. second book is about Russ. And then I've heard that the third book is gonna be about hair, Henry
Track 1:Wildfire.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Wildfires about
Track 1:Shut up.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:Oh my God. I didn't know that.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah, that's what I heard. And then
Track 1:I,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:one that she's writing, or she's about to publish, is gonna be about Henry.
Track 1:okay, cute.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah,
Track 1:I'd love that. Um, you wanna wrap it up? So where, hold on. This is fucking her. But like this is like kind of like what? Like I imagined.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:yeah. No, that's accurate.
Track 1:Yeah.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:Okay. Um, where were we? They're having sex.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:he helps, yeah. All the time. helps her, um,
Track 1:He helps her like practice skating. Aaron's back.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:then, yeah, and then they go home for the holidays. He goes to her house for the holidays and
Track 1:Oh yeah. They meet the parents, but they also make it official. So their boyfriend, girlfriend,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah. And then they go to his place, um,
Track 1:they meet her parents. They meet.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:house to meet his dad after they met her parents. And that's when she like goes skating on the ice outside and falls through the ice,
Track 1:Yeah.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:was like, I knew that was gonna happen.
Track 1:I didn't, that was so random. She foster through the ice. She almost dies. She almost drowns at that point. She like realizes, like I, well she had known that she loved him. He's just so perfect the way he just said he did everything right. I just love him. He just did everything fucking right. Ugh. I just love him so much.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:to, was it breakfast or brunch or whatever with his family and she like stood up for his sister
Track 1:Yeah,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:because
Track 1:She's so spicy, she's so feisty. And then, um, his dad's an asshole and she stood up for Sasha for the sister. And, um, I really, really, really liked the next morning when the dad and Nate kind of had a moment
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:and the dad said, Because I mean, they kind of left lunch kind of like a little odd, like, I felt like it was kind of awkward because she kind of like, you know, she read his dad to Phil at lunch and um, they kind of, Nate and his dad kind of have a moment the next morning and, and the dad, all he says is, I really like her. And he said, do you love her? And Nate said, yeah, I do. And he was like, she loves you too. Like, he just like, dad approved. And then dad said, she reminds me of your mom.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Your mother. Yeah. Your mother
Track 1:Your mother used to was like that. And she like, loved me fiercely, but she called your grandfather like a bastard one time
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah, yeah.
Track 1:um, like made me stand up to him all the time. And, um, he was like, she's, she reminds me a lot of your mom. And it was just, I was just like, I loved it,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah. That was sweet.
Track 1:I just loved it. And then it kind of gave us some closure on the dad too, because like he, um, it reminded me a lot of a book that I read. it reminded me, the dad son relationship reminded me a lot of the, um, you haven't read these, these books, but the Billionaire series,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Mm-Hmm.
Track 1:it reminded me a lot of that type of dad relationship. And,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:like, the way that that relationship kind of wraps up in that series is kind of like the sons realizing, you know, this is a, my dad is a horrible man, but he wasn't always like this. And, um, my mother loved him because like, it's kind of like the same type of thing. Like the mom died and then the dad turned to shit, and it was kind of like the same type of idea. But at the end, the only closure we get is this man is still a horrible person, but nobody hates himself more, hates him more than he hates himself. And that's how like the Billionaire series, fa like father in that series kind of wrapped up and it was like, that's the closure that like the readers need. Because like the son is just like, you know what, I'm gonna let this go. Like I,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:hates himself more than I can hate him. So, and that's kind of how it wrapped up with Nate and his dad.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Well, and I liked how he kind of got the parent that he wanted out of,
Track 1:With her dad. I know.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:her dad.
Track 1:It was so cute.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Like when, at the end of the book when he's like doing his, big games and stuff, he gets like texts from her dad, like, we're
Track 1:He's so proud of him.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Like,
Track 1:Yeah,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:you better play good'cause I'm talking you up here. Like,
Track 1:he's so proud of him.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:relationship to have. Um, but keep going through the end of the book. has like a big game and he ends the big game and she has those, um,
Track 1:She has her qualify her.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:can touch a little, I mean, I know we're running on time, but like we can touch a tiny bit on, like, she and Nate kinda have this spittle about, like, she has to kind of get over all the shit that Erin's done to her because like, she is, like, he's, I have to have him to like, accomplish my goals
Track 1:Mm-Hmm,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:like, do what I want Nate has to like, like Nate takes a little bit longer to kind of get to that idea.
Track 1:He didn't want that. Which obviously, I mean, I understand, I understand. He was like, this person is horrible. I don't want you near him. I don't like, you're not seeing, he's manipulating you and she has to be like, Nathan, I do, but I need you to trust me and trust what I'm doing and like, just let me do this because without him, my career's over was her whole mindset, which is accurate.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:which is so normal, relationships to be like. Like there's times when I need you to fix things for me, and there's times when I just need you to stand next to me and support me and tell me like
Track 1:and trust my decisions. And she was struggling with, she didn't think that he trusted her, but he just was being protective. And I really liked that scene too because they, because like, it wasn't like a screaming match. Like they obviously disagreed on, on things, but they were able to have a clear conversation and they were able to have, keep their emotions in check. And Nate kind of got a little buck with her like for a little bit, but only because he, I think he just was trying to protect her and was like scared that she was making the wrong decisions. But he even checked himself and was like, I gotta trust her. Like I love her. I have to trust her.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:the guys on the team checked him. I think
Track 1:The guys on the team checked him.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:thinking about this all
Track 1:He was like, you have to
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:from her point of view.
Track 1:Not only from her point of view, but, but um, they kind of also were able to put it in perspective for him. Um, like your hockey career is most, is important to you. It's your life. Like this is sassy's equivalent to that. Like this, she has to do this. You know, like they were like, you would do anything for our team. You have done everything for our team. Like she has to do this for herself.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:For her team. Yeah.
Track 1:Yeah, they were all great. All these boys were great. Did you know from the start that JJ was gay?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:no
Track 1:Me either.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I was gonna ask you that. all of a
Track 1:I was like, did I miss something?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:and I was like, because he was like, I Yeah.
Track 1:I didn't know where I missed that. I,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:stuff.
Track 1:yeah,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:I liked that. I mean, that was a cute plot twist, but it was like when they were, went out to dinner and it was like this, he has a crush on jj. I was like, Ooh, what?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Well then I was like, oh, he, he's probably bi, like, he's probably like, um, you didn't watch Summer. I turned pretty, but like Je Jeremiah's bi in the beginning, in the first season of, um, that and it's, he's kind of like the cool guy and like, he like goes between girls and guys and it's kind of like his thing. So I thought it was that,
Track 1:I liked that though
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:think he's just gay.
Track 1:'cause he was so close with Stassi and like, they kind of did like their cookie and she had like a cute relationship with all of the boys, which I loved. I mean, it was just very,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:it was, it's very chosen family esque. And um, but her and JJ were the two that would like cook every night and like he kind of helped her heal her relationship with food through that. Like, they learned how to cook together.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Mm-Hmm.
Track 1:It was just so cute.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:So cute.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:end they're having like their family dinner and, and someone, I, I don't remember who it was like, can I have the egg roll? And she's like, no, that's my egg roll. Like,
Track 1:That's my girl.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:fighting for noodles and like egg rolls and things, which
Track 1:Yeah.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:such a
Track 1:was so cute.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:beginning of the book.
Track 1:And Nathan was like, you don't, you know, Stasha, you don't have to do this. And she's like, I love it. It's like having like a bunch of babies who just like cuss and drink beer all day. And I'm just like, you're so funny. I loved, she's not wrong. I loved it,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:no
Track 1:but okay. Um, so she's got a competition. Nate has his big qualifying game same day. Um, so they're kind of in two different spots. She's competing with Erin. Nathan gets there on time to watch her, and their routine goes perfect. Beautifully perfect. When they stop and they finish the routine, Aaron grabs her and fucking kisses her on the mouth and like, won't let her go. And it was so yucky to me because I'm like, this was your intention the entire time. Like he was trying to cre create this image.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:He just uses her as like a tool.
Track 1:He just uses her. And in that moment she was like, fuck this dude. So she
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:it's. I think it, it said from Nathan's point of view first, and it says like, you can tell she's like automatically rattled, but like she knows where she's at so she can't like, break down yet. And so they do their like bows or whatever and they come off and like, you know, Nathan Storms down there then it switches to her point of view and, um, she's like, instantly gets off the ice and like starts crying and is like, the hell was that? Like, I didn't give you permission for that. And the coach is like, okay, let's just go sit down and get our scores before, like, we let things blow up and then Nathan comes out of nowhere and like punches him in the face,
Track 1:Yeah, because Nathan knew, he was like,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:He was like, she
Track 1:the fuck? He was like, no. I'm trying to find, um, But yeah, it was crazy. So he knocks Aaron out and Aaron is trying to be like, Stassi, you're being so dramatic. Like, get over it. Like I did that this is what the people wanted.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:a deal. Yeah.
Track 1:But so they do so good. They qualify. They like are the first they win and she's like, sorry, tell um, tell them that I've, uh, pulled from the competition and I will be skating alone from now on.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:Yeah. Which was so great.'cause she kind of fucked him, Aaron, I mean, you know what I mean?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:she did. And he like pitched a fit and um,
Track 1:I'm trying to find the, um,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:forget what goes on after that. Like,
Track 1:I'm trying to find,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:'cause like the boys were at home watching it on tv. So like, Nathan talks about how he's getting all these text messages from everyone and like, he can't even like, respond to them, but
Track 1:Yeah. She says
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:they go, oh, they, sorry. They say what?
Track 1:Um, hold on.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Well, that's when they go home and like, she's like, we have to go pick up some of my things. Oh, what.
Track 1:Okay, so this is just so I can just read this. The, um, what happened, this is Nathan's point of view. Um, Aaron picks her up for the final move, uh, Stassi gl to the air flawlessly landing so gently, you wouldn't think she was spinning through the air. A second later, the pair of them move towards the center of the rink, do their final dance moves and end wrapped around each other as the music fades. Every second of it was perfect, not a hair out of place. And when the applause starts, that's when Aaron takes her face in his hands and kisses her. And then we switch to Stassi, and then it says Stassi point Ofo. Um, there are flashing lights going off all around us. My chest is so tight I can't breathe. I'm pushing against him, but his grip on my face is too tight and I don't wanna make a scene on the ice. Since there are about 30 cameras at all different angles capturing this psycho fuck.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah,
Track 1:and then like we go, whatever, whatever. No, I'm done. I couldn't get him off me. He wouldn't stop. I didn't want to, you wouldn't let me go. I'm not doing anymore coach. I don't want to. And then she's like, done.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:So she just, she exits. Nate takes her home, she's like, take me the fuck home. She wants to go get her stuff at, at her apartment. And when she gets there,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:a night bag.
Track 1:when she gets there, all the boys are there and Lola's there and she's like, what is going on? And Lola's like, we're fucking moving out. Because they were watching what was happening and Lola's like, yeah. So she like gets all the boys over
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:my favorite part
Track 1:me too. Like before, like they even got home before.'cause she fucking knew. So before she even was able to talk to Scy, she called the boys to the house and they were more than happy to oblige. I mean, they hated Erin and wanted her.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:her to live
Track 1:They want her at the house. So they were like, alright, let's go. So all the boys are at her apartment packing up her and Lola. Which was very sweet. So they move out and then we kind of jump from them then to three months later. Yeah, it goes to three months later. And that's like right when Nate's about to leave for Vancouver,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Mm-Hmm?
Track 1:um,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Oh, he goes and talks to the principal.
Track 1:Right. And they find they kind of clear his record, clear his name. We find out what actually happened to Aaron. We found out Aaron was lying. So all that is cleared off of his record. And then
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Mm-Hmm.
Track 1:goes off to Vancouver and then that's when we get like two and a half years later and that's where the book ends. Were you surprised?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Well, no, there's an, isn't there an epilogue? And then there's like another,
Track 1:No, it's just three months later, two and a half years later.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:yeah. You're right. You're right, you're right. Yeah.
Track 1:I know I'm right'cause I read it. I finished this book at 4:00 AM last night, or 4:00 AM this morning. So it's fresh on the mind.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:was I surprised about what
Track 1:It just was like two and a half years later she's pregnant.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:that's normal for. Like these type of romance books. I'm not a huge fan of'em.
Track 1:It is normal for these types of books and I liked how it wrapped up in a bow. However, I, I struggled to understand, and this is my own, um, ignorance, but I struggled to understand the timelines of the careers because now we're two and a half years later out of college, which Stassi wasn't even a senior in college. She was only a junior.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:That's true.
Track 1:So I was just struggling with the timeline a little bit because now we're two and a half years out of where we ended out from, um, The start of Stassi senior year, the end of Nathan's college career. And then
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:two and a half years later, Stassi is an Olympic gold medalist. Um, Nathan's a Stanley Cup winner, and they're pregnant with their first baby. And it does kind of explain what happened, which I appreciated. But I'm assuming she started competing as an individual. I just didn't know it, it all could happen that fast. I guess the Olympics were closer because earlier, call back to the beginning of the book or middle of the book when Aaron was kind of, um, bullying Stassy throughout the book. He did mention one time like, what are you gonna wait until you're 27 to go to the Olympics? So I guess the
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:were soon, so they were trying to qualify for like the Olympics, like within the year. Um, so she obviously ends up qualifying as an individual, wins a gold medal, so now she's a gold medal Olympic Olympus. And I guess that first year that he was in the NHL, he's the Stanley Cup holder.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah, it says, um, well here, here's two places. It says, I graduated and moved back to Washington to be closer to Nathan, I decided to start with semi-regular therapy sessions. Um, and then it skips around you go to knowing he was transferring to Seattle. At the end of the season, Nathan promised me, after the Olympics in February, we could get a golden retriever when neither of us planned for. When, when we decided to become dog parents was my pre-Olympic debut anxiety caused me to vomit up my contraceptive pill. I won gold in the women's singles. We celebrated a lot. Six months later, I have a giant watermelon strap to my stomach and the world's most chaotic puppy. So I think you're right, like it was. the Olympics were happening like quickly, it was that
Track 1:Yeah.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:coming up then they had that and then they got pregnant like right away.
Track 1:Which kind of sucks.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I mean, it is fast paced. It is very
Track 1:It kind of sucks. Okay. Yeah, it was quick, and then I was just thinking like, damn,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Go
Track 1:I don't know. I just was thinking like, okay, like
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:was just
Track 1:all right. I was just thinking, damn, damn. All right.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:good reads, um, last week about this book and everyone loves this book, but, um, people were saying that her being pregnant, like just the idea of her being pregnant was weird because a couple times throughout the book they talk about like, don't get pregnant.
Track 1:Yeah.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:get pregnant. Be a physics figure skater. And it was
Track 1:Right.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:okay
Track 1:Which is not true,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:the end of the book?
Track 1:which is not true. You can obviously get pregnant, be a mom, and be an amazing athlete and a figure skater and continue on in the Olympics for as long as you want. But it was kind of like, oh. Okay.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Okay. Yeah.
Track 1:it was a cute little bow. Like they tied up the relationship, like everything, you know? Um, I think it's what they eventually, like they wanted that they've kind of like alluded to, like being together and having kids and all that shit. It was cute. Do you think, do you think they lived with her parents or do you think the parents were just visiting?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I think the parents were just there, or,
Track 1:Okay. Because she like says like, she pulled up and like parked next to her mom's car and then like mom and dad were there. I was like, I wonder if they lived together.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:yeah, I don't know. But then he proposes, like the last page of the book.
Track 1:oh yeah, I forgot about that. Yeah, he does propose. It was cute. I really liked this book. It was very sweet. I liked it much better than Divine Rivals,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I did too. I enjoyed reading it more than Divine Rivals
Track 1:She was kind of a, she was kind of thick.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:in. She was a little thickie.
Track 1:It was easy to get lost in. And it was, um, like even when it did slow down, because there was some parts where chapters kind of slowed down, but then the last three sentences of the chapter, you were like, oh, and it kept you reading. Did you feel that way?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:pages. No, I mean, ILI like, I actually really enjoy books that go back and forth with, um, point of view, like a dual
Track 1:Me too. That's what I wish we would've got. I wish we would've gotten that in fourth wing.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:yeah, I go back and forth on Fourth Wing though. But I think this book, that's one of its strengths is it goes back and forth so you can really see the true characters of everyone. If it went back and forth and Fourth Wing you, she would have to disclose za in's secrets earlier. It
Track 1:True. You right.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:irony with the character, with like the reader in the book, but, which I don't think it would work well, um,
Track 1:write?
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:did you give this book a rating?
Track 1:Um, I'm gonna give her, ah, I loved it. Um, I'm gonna say four eight.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Let's a good one.
Track 1:It's
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:to,
Track 1:a high score.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:like four six or four seven.
Track 1:It's a high score.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:And like, like I say before, like I really don't have much thought behind it. I really just enjoyed reading it so much and it's not really my, um, it's not really my genre that I love, but I, I do like a book where I can kind of get lost in a, in a love story, especially one. And the reason I enjoyed this one so much was because it was so, uh, I.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:too much in La, la world.
Track 1:No, I mean, it was, it was, it was very, um, I don't know what word to use. It was very practical. Like, I appreciated like, the thought, like, like stacie's mindset. I really appreciated, I appreciated like they weren't, it wasn't like some are broken rules where they like fell in love in two days. Like they were, think they had other things on their minds and in their lives outside of falling in love, in love with each other and their relationships. And it really did a good job of kind of merging all of those things together.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:was very good.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah.
Track 1:I did really like it.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:I agree.
Track 1:Yay. I'm glad we did it.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:other
Track 1:now like I've been, we've both been wanting to read this book for a while, so I'm glad we could tuck that. You said four six,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:is your book. 4 6 or four seven. I'm still trying to sign.
Track 1:Next week is my book, and I have it right here in front of us.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:What is it called?
Track 1:Okay. So we're gonna read just Like Home by Sarah Galey. We're gonna kind of, um, jump into the, this is like a thriller. I don't think it's very much like,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:the Griller?
Track 1:yeah. I don't think it's very like horror. Like, but we'll see. But I mean, how beautiful
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Talking about a cute book,
Track 1:are you kidding? This is the cutest book I've ever seen.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:coming tomorrow.
Track 1:Yeah. Like, and we could have gotten the, like, I could have gotten this on like my Kindle, but I wanted this book. It's so cute, it's so aesthetic. Y'all will have to look it up. It's like a, like a, a pep. It's almost like Pepto-Bismol color. Like a pink Pepto-Bismol book.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:like a bubblegum, yeah.
Track 1:A bubblegum pink book. And like, there's just like a house, like a cherry red house on the front that's like dripping blood. But it's so beautiful. I love it. I love it. It's a thriller. It's about like, um, which we'll talk about later, but it's a thriller about like, I think like it's serial. Serial. Holy shit dude. Did I just have a stroke? It's about a serial killer. Okay. Jesus Christ,

abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:No, not really.
Track 1:I've seen a few people not like it, but read it. I like it. I think it's very good. I,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:It's good, especially when you have a lot going on in your life, like with holidays and stuff, and you just need something to kind of vege out and enjoy.
Track 1:Mm-Hmm.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:It's not
Track 1:it's got gr it's got like, I read a lot of like spicy stuff. That's some of the like a really good, that's some really good smut.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:written really well.
Track 1:Yeah. I mean it's not like super, it's like realistic smut. That's why I liked it.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Track 1:Yeah. It's not like fucking Crazy, crazy shit. Like it's pretty realistic.
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:and you're like, uh,
Track 1:You're like, Hmm, I don't know if I'd want that, but no, this is really realistic and, and very well done. Tasteful
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Tasteful.
Track 1:and take pointers. If you're a boy, read that. Yeah,
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:yeah. give it to your
Track 1:give it to your boyfriend
abby-preteroti_1_01-07-2024_105935:Hey babe. Read this All right guys, we'll talk to you next week.
Track 1:Bye.
