Welcome back to My Sister Made Me Read It podcast with Amy and Abby Predorotti.

Amy:

They're so bad. I've gotten

Abby:

My lips are so chop.

Amy:

on Wednesday.

Track 1:

Are you gonna keep it red?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Mm-Hmm. I've had to cancel

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

appointments just because of like, life. So it's been probably, oh God, probably like over 12 weeks, which is horrifying.'cause I should really do it like at least every eight weeks.

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

it's so bad and I'm so gray. I'm getting so gray. Like

Track 1:

Why are you getting gray?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I don't know, I've always had this like gray patch right here, like on my, on the right side of my head.

Track 1:

Is it gray or is it like white?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

It's like straight like white.

Track 1:

I can't tell on the camera

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

But like this entire patch, you can maybe tell, it's like a little lighter.

Track 1:

little bit. Yeah. Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Imagine it in

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

This is all literally gray. And then that's always been like that for like the last year, but lately. I'm starting to get them growing from my root, like my hairline right here, or like my part line. Like I'm having like little grays. I'm like, what the actual fuck is happening? So I really need to get my hair done. But I was finally

Track 1:

I was about to say ask. I was about to say ask mom when she started going gray, but you know, mom would be like, I didn't start doing this till I was old. Like, mom never has any problems.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

was telling um, John about it, and he was like, I think you should just rock the gray. I'm like, sir, I am literally

Track 1:

You are like, I'm not even 30 yet.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Like, please be fucking for real. I'm not going fucking gray whole head, but you could even see like right here. I don't know. You could definitely tell.

Track 1:

Yeah,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

And my hair's just so long. Like I cannot wait to get it cut. Like my bangs have

Track 1:

yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

and forever. I'm excited.

Track 1:

I like your natural hair, but I think the red is my second favorite.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Really, your second favorite.

Track 1:

Yeah. I didn't like the, remember when you dyed your hair black? I didn't like the black as much.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

suited me for that time in my life, for sure.

Track 1:

Yeah,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

But I don't know, I'm a little softer

Track 1:

the like darker, the like darker reds I like on you.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah, I think

Track 1:

I've thought about doing that.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

this time I'm gonna do like the darker red like I've been doing. It's kind of faded out a little bit, but

Track 1:

Yeah,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

getting warm, I think I'm gonna put like, lighten it up a little bit.

Track 1:

yeah,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

we'll see. And I haven't been getting my nails done. You see my nails?

Track 1:

yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

hate it, but I'm trying.

Track 1:

I'm trying to get mine to be like stronger. Mine break so easily.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Me too.

Track 1:

I'll look down. They, they're like break broken.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

tell on camera. But like I'm trying to grow'cause I did acrylics for so long. I'm trying to

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

my natural nail nail from like where the acrylics ended and they're like, it's like

Track 1:

The like indention.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

my God. It's so bad.

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

halfway on all of my nail beds. It's like a straight, like dip like that. So I'm trying

Track 1:

It's horrible.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

before and then I think I'll go back. I think I'm gonna do, um, either like gel, I think I might do like Gel XI think I might do that of acrylics.'cause the acrylics really fucked me. But

Track 1:

Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

just trying to save them bills while I moved in.

Track 1:

Yeah, I was about to say, nails will get expensive. I,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah. And my nails

Track 1:

that's why I don't do'em.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

My nails were really

Track 1:

I talking about nails. I've been going to yoga, you know, and I was in yoga the other day and you're barefoot in hot yoga. And I was like looking at my feet and I was like, I should probably like get a pedicure since I'm gonna be like out in the open

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I literally, I

Track 1:

my, like they're not bad.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

That's one

Track 1:

not bad. They're just a little crusty

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I don't want a

Track 1:

pedicures.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah, but you're married, like I'm still like out on the fucking scene, so I don't want like

Track 1:

I mean, still,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

want to end up like in someone's house with a crusty toe.

Track 1:

I mean my, my feet aren't that bad, Jose. Like, he like, makes fun of me because one time we went together,'cause sometimes if I get a pedicure I'll bring him with me so he can get his feet done. And um, they brought out the like cheese grater to do my feet. And he, every time he is like, you need to get your toes done. They need to do the cheese grater. You need the cheese grater.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

that's

Track 1:

I'm like, shut up. I mean, I just get like really bad dry skin. I get dry skin all over my body though. Like I always, I'm like always exfoliating in the shower.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I don't know. Like I, my feet have always been, I've always had nice feet, not to brag, but they're like, just like really cute and long and thin and narrow. And I love my feet, but

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

feet all day for work. And I wear boots at work. So like, my feet are kind of

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I gotta stay on top of'em. Like some of the girls that we work with go to this, um, it's like a, she's like a podiatrist. She's like a licensed podiatrist. But now she practices, she doesn't like practice podiatry. She like does like medical grade pedicures.

Track 1:

Oh,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

So they're

Track 1:

huh.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

super expensive. Like that's where Megan goes and like, she gets like these medical grade pedicures done.

Track 1:

What doesn't make it, like, what makes it medical grade?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I don't really know. I've never been,'cause

Track 1:

Oh, okay.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

a pedicure. But it's like, um, she like does all this like stuff and she can like, you know, some people have really fucked up feet. Dude, I've like looked at her before and afters and I, Megan was showing me pictures and I was like, that's, there's no fucking way. That's a real foot

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

is so

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

gr like, okay, I don't wanna say it's gross'cause you can't help it, but it is like, I'm so lucky. So are you.

Track 1:

Well you don't realize if you don't have like feet issues.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Some feet are really fucked. So

Track 1:

yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

like take care of like these feet and like, she like goes to like the root of the issue of them and like their nails and shit. But,

Track 1:

I was about to say, there's lots of like fungus going on with feet.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

in like ingrown toenails, so she like helps like, um, your toes like go grow back normal and shit. It's crazy.

Track 1:

Remember when we were kids and we would get the warts on our toes?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

please keep me out of that conversation. I've never had a word in my life.

Track 1:

Was it just me and Amanda?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

me. I want that

Track 1:

We would get like.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I've never

Track 1:

get the warts on our big toes, like on both sides. And we would go to that doctor and they would like burn it off with like, with like, um, what is it called? Was it nitrogen or was it um,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

dry

Track 1:

the super cold ice. Dry ice. That's what it's called.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

nitrogen.

Track 1:

ice. Is it?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I mean, I'm not a scientist, but I think,

Track 1:

Maybe? I don't know. I'm not that smart.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

the scientific term is dry ice. I think it's liquid nitrogen.

Track 1:

Okay, well then that, but they would, it would hurt. I mean, just remember it hurting so bad and then she would pour on the carpet. This is when doctor's offices had carpet still in their thing. And uh, we would, she would like,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

anymore?

Track 1:

like in the exam room

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Is

Track 1:

there was carpet. I feel like it, there should be like tile or something to where you can clean up something if it happens.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

there's like a little squirtle.

Track 1:

I don't know. I feel like that's just unsanitary.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I kind of agree with you

Track 1:

But like,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

a great point.

Track 1:

but uh, she would pour it on the ground and we would like stomp on it and be like, oh, so we would like get excited'cause we could do that. But then we would have to get our warts burned off before.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

sick.

Track 1:

like, that was only when I was a kid. Like I haven't, that hasn't happened to me since I was like, what, 10?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

calm.

Track 1:

I don't have warts anymore.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I don't know. That's disgusting.

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Anyways,

Track 1:

Anyways, I went and saw Hamilton,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

you did. I've never seen Hamilton.

Track 1:

the Broadway show. Um, yeah, Jose had a work trip but it was in Atlanta and so he still got a hotel and stuff.'cause he had to be there for a few days. And the hotel was the one directly across from the Fox Theater. And we weren't, like, didn't really think anything of it. And we were coming home from dinner on Sunday and I saw a billboard for Hamilton, like they were in town and I was like, oh, we should go. And he was like, well, like you can, we can go. Like, I'm gonna be down there. You can come and like, spend the night with me and then go home. And um, so it was like, we bought our tickets like Sunday night or Monday night and we like went on Tuesday.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Fun.

Track 1:

um,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Hello?

Track 1:

it was lots of fun. I've never seen it before,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

What to

Track 1:

but

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

wants to say hi. You wanna say hi Sun? Do you hear that? She just

Track 1:

no.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

the microphone here, mama. Little Snoop Bobs here. Bubby. You wanna say hi? Come here. You said hi.

Track 1:

Okay. Crazy lady.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

They're so happy today. Are you

Track 1:

Luna is like, is like in a mood lately.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Uh, my dogs are doing good in this new house. They really love it, but they like, don't leave my side. Hi.

Track 1:

They never lived your side, left your side.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

and Sun Girl has been doing really, really well, but the past, like few days, she's been fucking shitting in the house again. Like, I don't

Track 1:

He has a whole backyard.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

a whole backyard and they're outside all the time, but like, I'll like come home. I don't know what happened. So, okay. I think this is when it started. So. I had the girls over, I don't know, week or two weeks ago or whatever, and they brought, they ate sushi for dinner, so they like had sushi here and they left their sushi in the fridge, like the leftover sushi. And I threw it away big trash can outside, which was full because since I moved in, I hadn't had the trash come yet at this point.

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

had like a full thing of trash outside and it was in the backyard'cause I didn't bring it around the house yet. And I think I had like a raccoon or something get in it then like one night, like in the middle of the night and it

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

sushi onto the floor and Sonny ate it.

Track 1:

Oh God.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I was like, fuck, she's gonna literally, and I like looked it all up and like it was fine. But it was just like one little piece I think. I was like, she's gonna fucking shit everywhere. Which she did. I like came home from work and she shit all over the fucking room. And um, ever since then she's been like, kinda like pooping in the house. I don't know if she like, is like, oh okay, this is, I could do that. You know?

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

So I'm trying to knock her out of it. Oh, you're so cute though. You're sitting there smiling at me and she loves staring at herself. So like in my office I have like a mirror and she just sits right next to her and stares at herself. You looking at how pretty you are. I know this. So the pretty girl,

Track 1:

i, um, finished powerless last night.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I saw it at the store yesterday.

Track 1:

I love it. I didn't know it's a trilogy.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I didn't either. The other

Track 1:

And so I was reaching, no, the second one comes out July 24th, I think, of this year. But, and then the third one, they haven't announced yet, obviously, but yeah, so I was reaching like towards the end of the book last night and I was like, I don't think this is gonna be resolved, like, what is going on? And then I finished it and it was like, um, if you wanna read like the first few chapters of the second book in the trilogy. And I was like, fuck. And so then I like looked it up and it like, it's because I was like, I'm going to Barnes and Noble in the morning, like I'm going to buy the new book. And it was like, not out yet.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Did you?

Track 1:

But I liked it.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I'm gonna read it too. I have to get through. I'm, I'm slowly trudging through a quarter of Silver Flames, which is the last of the Acthar, because I

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

it to end. And this is my favorite book of all of them so far.

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Inessa has just. It's the most amazing character ever written to me. Um, you'll, when you read it, you'll understand. I'm like,

Track 1:

Mm

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I'm like, whenever I'm reading it.'cause typically when I read, like I read obviously for enjoyment, but I wanna like hurry, not hurry through them. Like, I, I take my time with them, but I wanna like finish them and stuff like that. Like this one is

Track 1:

mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

like I pick up and I like truly like wanna sit and enjoy and like digest. Like I'm annotating the fuck out of this book. so I'm reading that and then I'll finish that. And then I wanna, I think I'm going to start, um, her Drone of Glass series next.

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Um, and then I'm gonna finish my Lord's series, which I started the Third Lord's book, which is my favorite so far. And there's two more after that. And

Track 1:

There's five total.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

yeah, one of them's a novella though.

Track 1:

Mm

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

um, yeah, I feel like there's another, oh my God. Okay,

Track 1:

hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

is gross. You're gonna hate this, but I love like, the darker the better for me. Like the

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

the weirder the shit. I love it. I found this book series and I think it's called to Take. Have you heard of it?

Track 1:

No,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Okay.

Track 1:

I don't think so.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

the gist of it, it's like an eight book series, but I think they're all like standalones.

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Um, I think we'll see. But it's basically like about like, it's like a, like a romantic type book, I think. Um, they're like, these demons, like

Track 1:

Her soul to take.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

it's a soul to take. not the her

Track 1:

Oh,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

take ones. Let me pull it up. Oh, hello.

Track 1:

a soul to keep?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Maybe

Track 1:

that one of the books?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

maybe it's a soul to keep.

Track 1:

Dust Walker Brides is the series name. Yeah. It's a Soul to keep.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Oh, so to keep, okay. Yes. The Dust Walker Brides, that's the one.

Track 1:

Oh my God. These are the books. A Soul To Keep Is Soul To Heel. A Soul To Touch. Sold To Guide A Sold to Revive. A Sold to Steel.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Okay, so

Track 1:

That's the sixth one.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

um, so it's a girl and then, um, the demon. The demon's name is Orpheus Orpheus, and it says Ria, who's like the, um, the MMF, the main female character.

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

it says, known as a harbinger of Bad Omens. Did I say MMF? I'm meant to say

Track 1:

Yeah, I think so.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

What the fuck was MMF?

Track 1:

I dunno,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Um,

Track 1:

you reading these on Kindle Unlimited. Okay, cool.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Why?

Track 1:

Because I was about to say don't buy'em, they're on Kindle Unlimited.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah. I'm reading one here. Um, she, okay. So basically blames, she's blaming bad omens for the demons eating her family rhe is shunned by her entire village when the next offering is due. In the monstrous dust walkers seen heading their way, her village offers her an impossible choice to be thrown into prison cells or allow herself to be sacrificed to a faceless monster. However, he is not what he seems his skull face and glow eyes are eal ethereal,

Track 1:

Eat real ere

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

and she finds herself unwittingly enchanted by him, and then it goes to his point of view. All, all Orpheus ever wanted was a companion. Aw. Each decade in exchange for protection, ward from the demons that terrorize the world, Orpheus takes a human offering to the veil. A place he lives in the home of demons. The brief companionship does little to ease his loneliness and their lives were always, unfortunately cut short. He thought it was a hopeless endeavor until he met her. She's not afraid of him, and his insatiable desire deepens within every moment of her presence. But will Orpheus be able to convince RIA to stay before she's lost to him forever? So basically this, I trigger warning. I saw a review on it

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

or it was like this girl on TikTok, and she was like, when people ask me what I'm reading or like about the book that I'm reading, and then she's like, um, thinking of a way to tell them that the de the demon in my book has to magically rearrange her insides to fit his dick into her.

Track 1:

Oh my God.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

And I'm like, no, the way I am about to read this book. So

Track 1:

Yeah, I was reading on Amazon, you know how they do like the popular highlights of people. What are people highlighting on the Kindles? There's one that says, come little human. He gestured his hand out to present more of his left arm for it. Let me melt your heart.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I love it. This is why. This is why dating doesn't work out for me.

Track 1:

You might not like powerless then'cause it is not like there's, it's like a slow burn. Romance. There's no smut.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

like a good, I like a good storyline. Okay.

Track 1:

Uhhuh,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I like a good storyline, but I also want to see a demon rearrange her guts with magic. I

Track 1:

That's ho I,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

that. I do wanna read that.

Track 1:

I can't say I've ever thought of that idea before.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I wanna read it. I'm curious.

Track 1:

It's probably better than getting my swamp

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Oh, that's

Track 1:

a step forward.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

That was great. Get in my swamp. Stay in my swamp. Just a love story of the ages.

Track 1:

For the, for the millennials?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I love it. I love it.

Track 1:

Um,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

finish, um, I read Where's Molly came out, which is the, uh, kind of like novella spinoff off of hunting Adeline. Love it, loved it, loved it, loved it. It was so good. Five stars. 10 outta 10. 10.

Track 1:

Was it Hunting Adeline or Haunting Adeline.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

one's haunting. The second one's hunting

Track 1:

Oh, so that's the, so the Molly one's the third book?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

well. So in Adeline, there's a small character in that book. If you read it, then you in. You'll like

Track 1:

Yeah. I didn't read it

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Are you gonna read it ever?

Track 1:

probably.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

should just two. They're

Track 1:

So they take like a character outta the second book and do a spinoff book.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

character, but it, it's a small character in the book, but she plays like a huge part, um, in the book kind of, but she doesn't really make much of an appearance, but her story's really important to the book. So Where's Molly is like a novella about her story.

Track 1:

Oh, okay.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

was only like 200 and something pages, but it was like, the storytelling that she does is so good.

Track 1:

Yeah,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

It's so

Track 1:

no people, A lot of people like hers.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

huh?

Track 1:

A lot of people like those books.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I love like how she like weaves characters. Like she just does it so well. She like intertwines everybody really, really well. It

Track 1:

yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

was pretty dark, but it was good there. Yeah. Love it.

Track 1:

Yeah. I've only read Powerless'cause. We were taking like a break, but I was just kind of like overloaded with reading. I just wanted to like, enjoy a book for a minute and it was, it was like a longer book, so it was, I just took my time on it. I didn't,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

It

Track 1:

I didn't read anything else.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah. That was just last week. I did, where's Molly? And, um, I read Winner Set Hollow, which I didn't love. Have you heard of

Track 1:

Is that a no?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

So I really wanted to like it, but I think it was written, so it's called Winner Set Hollow. And it's basically about, it's like a, a horror book. And it's basically about, um, this group of people who go to, so they have like a story, like a childhood fairytale that they all have like loved called Winner Set. That's what Winner Set Hollow is. It's like a childhood fairytale.

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

they go to the island of like, where this. Fairytale takes place.'cause like the author has like, like his house there. So it's kinda like a tourist attraction. Right.

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

they go there and basically like, the fairytale like comes to life, like while they're there and like the characters like come to life and like, like murder all of them.

Track 1:

Oh, lovely.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah. But it, like, I just didn't love it. Like it was written really, really nice. It was like almost,'cause like the story Winterset Hollow, like in the book is a poet, like a poetry type fairytale, you know? So it's written like that. Like it's written kind of like really poetic and like pretty,

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

but it's like about like, they're like killing them. Like it was just difficult to get through. I like put it on audiobook so I could like get through it.

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

love it. I appreciated it, but I didn't love it. I wanted to get back to my smut.

Track 1:

I wish I could, um, do audio books. I just can't do'em.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I

Track 1:

I don't know why.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I have audible kind of as like a tool in my back pocket to like get through books faster.'cause I don't have much time during the day to like sit and read. When I do,

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

early in the morning or, and then I have to go, you know, start my day or it's when I get home at night at like fucking 1:00 AM and I fall asleep after one chapter.

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

of use like Audible as like a tool, like as I'm like getting ready or like driving and just to kind

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

get through, get through a few books. But I, yeah,

Track 1:

I was never like a auditory learner in school anyways. Like I would have to rewrite what the teacher was saying for me to be able to comprehend what was

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

yeah,

Track 1:

going on. So I think that's just why I'm just very, like, extremely a visual learner.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

yeah. I

Track 1:

So like I'll listen, I'll even listen to like podcasts and then I'll get doing something or if I'm working or something and I'll be like, I don't know what's going like a crime podcast for, for example. And I'll be like, I don't know what's going on. Like I don't know who's murdering who and like who's the victim.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

background noise sometimes, but I can pick

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

when I'm like doing other things, I can still like pick up on audio, especially if I have my AirPods in. I'll just kinda like, it's like going in my head. I feel like just

Track 1:

Fair.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

the brain I remembered what I was gonna say earlier because I was like

Track 1:

Oh,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

like, and I was like, I know I'm such a heavy breather.'cause people tell me all the time like, why are you fucking exhaling so loud? I'm like, I don't know. I

Track 1:

I do that too.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I was thinking about, um, so have you, have you heard of mouth taping at night?

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

start doing it,

Track 1:

Really?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

but the mouth tape that I want is out of stock right now, so I'm like waiting for it to be like back in stock.

Track 1:

Do you sleep with your mouth open?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

um, I don't know.

Track 1:

That's true.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I don't know. I'm not really, uh, aware of how I sleep, but um, it's like supposed to help with like a lot of things.

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

a lot of things and it's like supposed to like keep your jaw snatched and everything, so.

Track 1:

Oh, that's why you're doing it.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Well I'm doing it for health reasons, but

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

maybe it'll help

Track 1:

Maybe Jose should do that. Jose. Jose. Jose. Jose has like snores the worst

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah. It's good for you

Track 1:

He's a loud snore,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

breathing through

Track 1:

but we've been together so long that like his snore is kind of like a lullaby. Like it, it's almost like my white noise machine. It like puts me to sleep

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

literally never, I would you, you know that fucking video of Kate Gosling with her when he, and he's, she's

Track 1:

X. Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

can you stop breathing?

Track 1:

Can you breath in like that? Loud.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

That's so me.

Track 1:

I like, I know you have like misophonia and I don't. I, I always watch these videos on TikTok and stuff of people eating or like food videos or all this kind of stuff.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

me nauseous.

Track 1:

Recently, I'm like, yeah, I get it.'cause some people on TikTok just are like, it's like, do you know how to eat?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

it gets me

Track 1:

And I'm not gonna do it'cause it's gonna Yeah, I know.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

when mom calls me on the phone, there's no reason I should be pissed at her. But if she's eating something, I'm like, I'm hanging up on you. You're fucking disgusting. I can't talk to you. It makes me physically angry.

Track 1:

You know though. You eat like her though.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

dis, I'm horrible. And like the

Track 1:

I know.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

like, you close your fucking mouth? And I'm like, no I can't. Sorry.

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

but like it is. I don't wanna hear you eating. I don't wanna hear you drinking. If I hear someone swallow, I will audibly gag. I. Like, I can't, like there's something about it that just literally makes me wanna crawl outta my fucking skin. Ugh. I don't know how I cut up my finger yesterday, but I'm like, you, you see that

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

perfect cuts.

Track 1:

That happens to me all the time. I just look at my hands and there's cuts all over'em.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

so bad.

Track 1:

like, we, like hand wash or I hand wash all the dishes at night and I'll like grab a knife and be like, I don't know why I just grabbed a knife now. It just sliced me like, I'm just so careless sometimes.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Just so careless sometimes.

Track 1:

All right. Let's talk about red, white, and royal blue.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

quick. I don't know why this can, have you seen the, you know, the TikTok where she's like, luckily I had purse and she's like, I had purse,

Track 1:

Yeah, I, I haven't seen that.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

purse, I had shoe. She's like, I had purse. I have hat on head. We've been doing that like so much lately. Oh my god, can I tell you something funny?

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

So me and been like a fucking shit show lately. Like living, literally living a fever dream.

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

day the whole restaurant was basically on fire burning down. And me and Bailey, Bailey was about to have like a fucking aneurysm and like we're standing talking like, I'm like, bro, I don't know. Like, I don't know. And one of our server assistants comes up and like, she doesn't say much. She's very sweet and like she's a hard worker. We love it, but like she doesn't really say much. And Abby, she came up to me and Bailey, you can't write this shit. And she just like looked at us and I was like, yeah, like, because, you know, like I'm in charge. I don't know who allowed that, but,

Track 1:

mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

and goes, one time I took two vodka shots and I had diarrhea for 14 hours and then walked away. And Bailey goes, what is happening? Bailey just straight looked at her and goes, what is happening? And I was like, okay.

Track 1:

Who the hell says that?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Why? I was just like, what the fuck? Okay great. Can you please go run the food? I don't know what to.

Track 1:

Yeah. Do you have diarrhea now? Like is this a now problem?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah.

Track 1:

should get that checked out. It's called IBS.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

snippet into my life and like it's been friend of mine lately'cause I've been like going on a few dates and stuff and people are like asking me like about like work and like, I'm like, I literally like a shepherd of a group of fatherless, 20-year-old women. Like please just think of that. It's literally like so hard. And it's just like people, they just say random shit like that 24 7. And I'm like, I'm literally going to, um, this is where my hair's gray.

Track 1:

Yeah. Yeah. There's a callback.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I love them so much. Two of them are on vacation in Cancun right now.

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Literally terrified for them. And I got a phone call at three 30 the other day, three 30 in the morning,

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I answered it and I was like, scared. Something was wrong, but they're just drunk. They just wanted to

Track 1:

Drunk.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

this boy that they met. And I'm like, can you girls please make sure you lock your door and go to

Track 1:

Oh my God.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah.

Track 1:

They need the, what is that called? The Safe Alert. The Life Alert.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

am gonna put microchips in all of them anyways. Red, white and Royal blue. I loved this book.

Track 1:

You did.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I did. I can't believe you didn't. You're so

Track 1:

It wasn't my favorite. I, yeah, it, I don't know. I, it takes a lot for me to like really love a book.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I loved it. I'm pulling it up right

Track 1:

It was too long.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

It was very long. I feel like it definitely could have been a little bit shorter, but I appreciated it. I like, um, let me see if I annotated anything.

Track 1:

I liked the book more than I liked the movie.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

duh.

Track 1:

I did not like the movie.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Did I make highlights? I sure did. It's about Alex who, our main

Track 1:

That's his name.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

name is Alex. He's the son of the United States of America. Who? Who? He's the son of, the president of the United States of America.

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I guess, anyways, so he's the first son of the United States basically,

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

and, um, not Henry, what's his fucking name? It's Henry.

Track 1:

This is Henry,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Henry is the spare of England. So

Track 1:

which is like

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

is not the

Track 1:

really Henry.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah, Henry Harry.

Track 1:

This

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

come on. What other English names are they? You wanted'em to be named? Fucking William.

Track 1:

Louis, I don't know. I would've rather them picked a name that was like the kid's name instead of like, I don't know. It was too close. Anyways, keep going.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Henry is the spare. So he is not the first heir of the throne. He, is it the throne? We could say that of the crown, not the throne.

Track 1:

Of the crown.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

so

Track 1:

I think it is a throne.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

think it's the Crown.

Track 1:

Okay, say the crown.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

second era of the Crown. Um, so him, and so they, I don't really know politics very well, but I guess like, like leaders of countries are like kind of involved with each other. So growing up Alex and Henry have. Had to be cordial throughout their lives. And once they hit like a certain age, like their teenage years, they kind of, Henry like, kind of was like crass towards him. So they kind of have this like little feud going on

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

teenage lives. they don't like each other. Alex gets kind of like overwhelmed with like, he feels like lesser than, than Harry, than Henry. He feels like I'm gonna do that a lot. I'm gonna say Harry a lot. He feels like

Track 1:

He calls Henry like stuffy and stuck up, whereas Alex is very like, fun. It's very the like classic. It's very, the classic like England in America type like cliches.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Alex gives middle child child energy. Like, he is fun loving. He's like, he's super hot. I think I like

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

hot. Um, like girls love him. Um, he's like, you know, everybody in America loves him. But he's always felt like lesser than to Henry. He feels like there's like a lot of comparison that has gone on in their lives. Um, so they kind of have like a little feud. Um, they had so fast forward we have the royal wedding, is Henry's older brother. his name? Do you remember his name?

Track 1:

Philip

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Philip Royal Original.

Track 1:

and Martha, I think was the wife's name.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Philip is getting married. So, um, the first son of the United States, Alex and his sister June, and some people from America are to be at the royal wedding,

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

are. and things kind of go awry. Like Henry kind of like ignores Alex and Alex is kind of in his fields. He was nervous going into the the wedding. Um, and he is like, you know what, I'm just gonna turn to alcohol, which is so relatable. I totally get it. So he gets kind of shit-faced. And kind of starts to, um,

Track 1:

He kinda pokes at like, yeah,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

starts to

Track 1:

yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

him. So they kind of get in like a little bit of like a and they end up knocking over that cake. So this 75,000 pound, 75,000,

Track 1:

Dollars,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

pounds.

Track 1:

yes, but

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Okay.$75,000

Track 1:

weight, the amount.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

The amount, this big expensive fucking cake. It's like a giant cake. They knock it over. It's like a whole thing. It's all in the papers. And the president of the United States is like trying to save face because she's about to be in, she's like running for reelection.

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

So they come up with a plan. Alex is to mend things with Henry and pretend, hey, they're gonna put out into the world. We've been best friends forever, but we just like aren't able to see each other a lot. So they kind of put on a front. About

Track 1:

mm-Hmm

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

like super close friends. So now what that entails is kind of like a itinerary of sorts

Track 1:

mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

you're going to London, Henry, you're coming to America. They're making appearances, they're doing charity work together. Um, they're having paparazzi take photos of them together. Um, do they go on dates too? No,

Track 1:

No, they don't go on dates, but it's mainly just like events.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Anyways, that, that might come later. I

Track 1:

Henry does in the book, but it's not in the movie.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Um, so that kind of starts, and as they are doing those things, they kind of like start to get to know each other a little bit and start to soften towards each other, right?

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

kind of like, you know, like, and I remember one of the part, the part when they're in the hospital doing the charity work with the kids.

Track 1:

mm-Hmm

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Um, I don't remember. Uh, I loved this, this quote, I'll go to that. Um, but I don't remember exactly like what they were doing, but they, something happens, they're locked in a closet together to be safe.'cause they think like there's like a shooter or something. It's super dramatic. Alex is like, bro, like, why don't you like me? Like, what did I ever do to

Track 1:

mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

And Henry basically just says, he says something along the lines of like, was never you, it was, he was dealing, he was grieving his father. His father died and he just was towards everybody at that time in his life and like, didn't wanna form any type of connection. And I think

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I also think there was underlying feelings, which we'll find out in Henry. And he just kind of pushed Alex away and it was, it came off like really like harsh to Alex.

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

they kind of. obviously

Track 1:

Once they kind of, they squash that in the closet,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

and Alex was

Track 1:

so.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

okay. I fucking get it. Like he was, it wasn't all about me. He was going through something in his life.

Track 1:

Well, once they kinda squash it in the closet, it's very much like fast paced in the sense of that relationship building. And Alex starts, um, questioning if he's, um, gay or bisexual or straight.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

see that Alex has always kind of identified as bi in a way, like in the back of his head. Um, but he doesn't start questioning it to us until after the New Year's party. Right?

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

So flash forward, they're doing all these appearances. hosts a New Year's party every year. Um. America, obviously. And Henry is to be at the, it's a part of their appearances, Henry is to be at the New Year's party.

Track 1:

mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

So this is when their friendship has blossomed. They're friends now. um, we see Henry get kind of triggered. So they're all dancing, doing whatever, whatever. And when the clock strikes midnight, Alex kisses somebody, a girl. Henry sees him do that and gets triggered about it. So we see Henry kind of run, run away, and Alex is like, like kind of clocks it and is like, what's wrong with him? Like, what happened?

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Alex follows him outside and they're, and he sees Henry kind of like upset. He's like trying to gather himself. He's crying and Alex is like, did I do something wrong? Like, what's wrong with you? And um, Henry says something like, I want, kind of wanna find it.'cause it was kind of like a really good, um, little snippet. Let's see when the New Year's party was. Oh, yep. I, not me going literally right to it.

Track 1:

What page is it?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Okay, hold on. It is, I'm on page 1 0 7. Let me see where the location is.

Track 1:

He asked him if you ever wonder what it's like to be anonymous person out of the world. And um, Alex says, what do you mean

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

see it. I

Track 1:

I.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

What do you mean? Um, and then. He asked him like, what do you do? Henry said, shakes his head and said, I'd be a writer. Can't you do that? He said, not exactly. Seen as a worthwhile pursuit for a man in line of the throne. Hey, the throne. Um, let's see. He said, I date more probably as well. And Alex says, write, because it's so hard to get a date when you're a prince. And he, Henry says, you'd be surprised, Alex said, how you're not exactly lacking for options. Henry keeps looking at him holding his gaze for two seconds too long. The options I'd, like he says, dragging the words out, they don't quite seem to be options at all. And Alex blanks what I'm saying, that I have people who interest me. Henry says, turning his body towards Alex now speaking with a fumbling pointedness as if it means something. But I shouldn't pursue them, at least not in my position. Um, I loved this scene. I. And then Alex says, I don't know what the hell you're talking about. You don't. No, you really don't. I really, really don't. Henry's whole face, g grimaces in frustration, his eyes casting skyward, like they're searching for help from an uncaring universe. Christ, you're as thick as it gets. He says, and he grabs Alex's face in both his hands and, and kisses him. And then he runs away.

Track 1:

Yeah,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah.

Track 1:

to say that. I was trying to see where it says that,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah.

Track 1:

yeah, Joseph suddenly, Henry releases him roughly enough that he staggers back. He's mumbling a curse and an apology eyes wide. And he's spinning on his heel.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

And then he runs away and Alex goes, oh

Track 1:

Yeah. And then he doesn't like, he like stops communicating with him.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah. And then it goes like ghost, like just straight ghost. Right. Um, this is when we see Alex start questioning his sexuality a little bit. Right? And then everybody. Uh, it says right here I highlighted straight people he thinks probably don't spend this much time convincing themselves. They're straight. Um, so we see that happen. And then where is it? I thought I highlighted another page. Maybe not, maybe not.

Track 1:

What part are you thinking about?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

He's calling me kind of when he's like going back and forth with himself.

Track 1:

Well, during this time he has a lot of conversations with Nora, which is the vice president's daughter, I'm pretty sure.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

ex-girlfriend now best friend.

Track 1:

Yeah. And then his sister June. And like those conversations were my favorite conversations to read.'cause they just felt a little real, like, um, I don't remember what happens in the book, but the moment when he talks to Nora and Nora is like, you didn't know. He like, we all knew he was gay. Like how could you not realize that Prince Henry was gay? And she says in the movies, and I don't know if they say this in the book, but in the movie she said something about like First 50 Rose of lady, a Lady Gaga concert type gay.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah,

Track 1:

I laughed, but I don't remember if that was in the book or not.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I

Track 1:

Um,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

know we watched the movie more recently than we read this, so that's kind of like

Track 1:

yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I loved the book'cause it was so, so obviously it was way more deep than the movie was. Like we get a lot more, a lot

Track 1:

Yeah. And I just, I think the book leans too much into a political thing. Like, I get it, I get they're in political positions, but like, that's not the conflict of the story. Like, it doesn't matter if his mom's getting, I mean, I guess it does to a degree, but it doesn't really matter if his mom's getting reelected.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

think it's a big thing because what they're looking at, and this is kind of silly, but what they're looking at is. Okay. I think I know what you mean. I think what you mean is like it shouldn't matter what he's doing. It shouldn't affect her election, which is kind of the premise of the book, like.

Track 1:

No, no, no. That's fine. But like. It would go too deep into like him, like I, I don't know. Like, I just think I wanted to focus on maybe the social aspects of the political, uh, like reelection like thing instead of going into like, like it didn't, and the movie took this out completely because I think they probably agreed, like it didn't need to be, like, obviously she's a Democrat and like the Republicans were against her, and the Republicans are the ones who come out and like, are, um, expose him and do all these horrible things to him and like blow up the whole thing. Like, it, I don't, I don't think that needed to be there. I like, honestly, I think there should have been more emphasis on the itinerary and like, we should have had, you know, the dates ahead of time. And then like we know like, Hey, they have to be together these times, these times. And each chapter, each few chapters, they were at these events. We would have like some guideline.'cause I, I felt like I was reading and like, I was like, I don't know where this story's going. Like obviously I know at the end of the book they're gonna get together'cause if not then why are we reading this? But like, it was like, it just felt like, and I think that's why I keep saying it felt long'cause it just kind of was like, where are we going with this? Why are we talking about politics again? Why are we here? Why are we here? We're, let's focus on the fact that these are two kids who are in the spotlight, who are dealing with their sexuality on different like stances.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

think it did that. I think it did that. But I think it also brought in like, um, you know, they're dealing with those things, but they also have other, um, I don't know what the word would be, like, commitments and duties elsewhere that they have

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

through as well. Like, especially for Henry. Like, he can't just, you know, his, he, he would, and he said this to Alex, like, you don't understand, like, I belong to England. Like I like being a prince of a crown in a, in that type of, you know, world is a little bit different than being in America. You know? And I think that was like

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

point that I think she accomplished. and, and Henry said that like, Alex, you don't understand because once they kind of, their relationship romantically evolve. Alex is giving him some pushback about like, well, like I remember like at the end, kind of towards the end when they're at the lake and um, Alex is like, you know, I've been thinking like I'm gonna go to New York, like, you can come stay with me and we can be together. And

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

like, you don't get it. Like, I can't, like I belong to England. I can't just be like openly gay. Like, you know,

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

with that and having Alex understand that. So I think like, I think politics had to be involved, but I think maybe there was like, I could maybe agree with you a little bit. There was a lot of emphasis on like the election and we kind of got sidetracked a little bit on the election front. But I mean we did have like a lot of supporting characters. Like June was involved in the election. The dad was a little bit involved in the election. Nora

Track 1:

Nor worked for it.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah. So we had like a lot of our supporting characters were involved in the election, so.

Track 1:

It was just like, that was the, that was the main thing that was going on. And it, there was like so much emphasis on like winning this election. Like he goes to Texas to work on the election and he goes here and he's, you know, doing all these things and that he and I, and I, I'm not saying that I don't think anything political should have been involved. I'm just saying I wish there was less and I wish there was more emphasis on. Or just like more scenes on like Henry and Alex.'cause I did feel like sometimes like once they kind of squashed things in that closet, it was like really fast. And then it, it hit like the scene at the lake where he, Henry kind of panics of like, you don't understand. Like we can't do this. This is supposed to be casual. Then it comes to like a screeching halt and then Alex runs after him and then it's like back to being like the best thing in the world, which is fine. But I think with the combination of that and the political stuff, it was just like, it felt a little off to me.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Um, but anyway, so they kind of form a relationship after that, after the New Year's they start secretly seeing each other.

Track 1:

Well now they're using the events they were supposed to be going to anyways as like secret rendezvous.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah. So they start seeing each other. Um, I. And I know Henry tells his sister B and then tells June and Nora and his mom, oh, no, no, no. And his dad,

Track 1:

Not his.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

no, he

Track 1:

No.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

He, okay, this

Track 1:

He just tells his sister.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

that they're doing that.

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Um, and then they're emails back and forth get leaked.

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

So now they are exposed as being a, a relationship and, um, you know, kind of like chaos ensues. Um, Alex wants to like, make sure that Henry's okay, whatever, whatever. Um, so he like goes back and forth to London. Um, let's see. There's like a part that I highlighted. Um, he sees Henry for the first time and, uh, like grabs him and says, I'm sorry, is what comes out of Alex's mouth. Miserably, earnestly muffled against Henry's throat. It's my fault. I'm so, so sorry. And then Henry says, don't you dare, I'm not sorry for a thing. Um, so they're like fine being together, but they're having to like now navigate the world knowing, right?

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

and I really liked this. Let's see. So Henry falls asleep with Alex that night and Alex is talking to B after he's asleep. Um, so it says Henry drift asleep at some point. Alex is thankful for it, but he can still feel tension in every part of Henry's body. Alex is like, okay, like I'm here with him. I know we're okay, but still seat feels like something's off with Henry. Um, and then B says he hasn't slept since the news. nods slightly searching her face. Can I ask you something? So now Alex is kind of gonna like pry um, a little bit with his sister. And Alex says, I feel like he's not telling me something. I believe him when he says he's all in and he wants to tell everyone the truth, but there's something else he's not saying and it's freaking me out. And then B looks up her finger stealing. Oh, love she says simply he misses dad. Um, and then Alex, I really liked this scene with B because Alex is

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

you can tell like he's so in love with Henry and he's not as concerned about the politics as Henry is.

Track 1:

mm-Hmm

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

genuinely trying to figure Henry out, like figure out his brain.

Track 1:

mm-Hmm

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

like loved this. And he said, can you explain, he attempts Laly. What's that? Like, what can I do? Um, and we know B'S background a little bit. She's like, has been through rehab and stuff, so she's kind of been through her own therapy and shit. So I liked her take on speaking to him.

Track 1:

mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

and she says, do you mind if I get go a bit sponsor? Like, can I be like a little bit like, you know, therapeutic

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Um, offers her a weak half smile and she continues and this is like a lot, but I'm gonna read it'cause I think it's important. She says, so imagine we're all born with a set of feelings. Some are broader or deeper than others, but for everyone there's that ground floor, a bottom crust of the pie. That's the maximum depth of feeling you've ever experienced. And then the worst thing happens to you. The very worst thing that could have happened, the thing you had nightmares about as a child and you thought, it's all right because that thing will never ha will happen to me when I'm older and wiser. And I'll have felt so many feelings by then that this one worst feeling, the worst pop pop, the worst possible feeling won't seem so terrible. But it happens to you when you're young and it happens when your brain isn't fully even done cooking when you've barely experienced anything really. The worst thing is one of the first big things that ever happens to you in your life. It happens to you and it goes all the way down to the bottom of what you know how to feel. And it rips it open and carves out this chasm down below to make room. And because you are so young and because it was one of the first big things to happen in your life, you'll always carry it inside you. Every time something terrible happens to you from then on, it doesn't just stop at the bottom, it goes all the way down. That is so

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

And that's so like relatable. Like I feel like we, me and you both can like understand that.

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

never heard someone like explain it like that. Like that's real as fuck.

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I loved that she said that. And then she said, do you understand? She asked him, looking right into his eyes, you need to understand this to be with Henry. He's the most loving, nurturing, selfless person you could hope to meet. But there's a sadness and a hurt in him that's tremendous. And you may very well never truly understand it, but you need to love it as much as you love the rest of him because it's him. That is him part and partial, and he is prepared to give it all to you, which is far more than I ever in a thousand years thought I would see him do. And then Alex says, I've never, I haven't been through anything like that, but I've always felt it in him. There's a side of him that's unknowable, but the thing is, jumping off cliffs is kind of my thing. That's the choice. I love him with all that because of all that on purpose. I love him on purpose. It's so cute. And then she says, then you'll do fine. And they do. And like after that conversation, it's kind of like smooth sailing.

Track 1:

Yeah. Yeah, that's what I'm saying though, is like, I, I liked the conversations between like the sisters. Yeah. And like at one point my favorite scene was when they all, like, all six of them go to that karaoke bar.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah.

Track 1:

I don't remember where they're at. Like, and they just like their kids for a minute and like they, you know, they sneak into the bathroom and fool round and all that and like. He says like, I have us, it's us six. Like I have friends. Alex says that, and it's like, I, I just wanted the book to focus more on that than like the political stuff that was going on.'cause like, those are the moments that felt more meaningful and more like I could connect to them and like actually enjoy reading them. And like, if you wanna talk about the movie for a second, they take all that out in the movie.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

they

Track 1:

They take,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

They

Track 1:

they take Pez out?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

They

Track 1:

No, they put Pez in. They put Pez in, but his name is Percy, not Pez. And then they take his sister out, June out. And then Nora is like still friend, but like, not what it was in the book. And then Beatrice is like very like not the type of character. Like she wasn't a recovering addict in the movie.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah, no, it

Track 1:

she was like,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

part.

Track 1:

yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I mean, the book, the movie was very low budget. I mean, Amazon did it. It was like, corny as all corniness. But it

Track 1:

yeah,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

to see like the story kind of like come to life like a little bit. But I mean, definitely they left out a lot of the things that I loved. They made what the book, what made the book good. They left out,

Track 1:

yeah,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

you

Track 1:

yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

um,

Track 1:

No, totally.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I don't remember when we have the lake scene. I think it's towards the end of the book or is it towards the middle? But we'll just touch on it real quick. They go to the

Track 1:

It's like three-fourths.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Henry brings him into the, or Alex brings Henry to the lake and introduces him to his dad. And um, think things just get like too real for Henry and he flees and then Alex like chases him. was kinda like a big part too. But yeah, after that conversation with BI feel like things and after like things kind of got exposed, they were like, okay, what we were afraid of has happened. How do we navigate this? And they like navigated it. They told a big thing for Henry was like telling his grandma the queen. So they told the queen about what

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

or about their

Track 1:

I just realized, yeah. It was grandma in a, in the book. It was grandpa in the book, in the movie. I mean,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

the king.

Track 1:

I just realized that. Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

but it's the queen in the book. So we have a talk with grandma. Grandma's not happy. Um, but. what happens is, um, Henry's mom is defending him now that they're kind of out in the open about his sexuality, like England is rallying for him.

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

so there's like a wide acceptance in England about Henry. So that's cool. We get to wrap that up with a bow and now we're focused on the election in America.

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

in America with Alex, they're thinking they're not gonna win the election. and then Alex makes like a speech, kind of like, kind of like a Hail Mary speech, right?

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

it goes really well and she wins the election and she's president again.

Track 1:

mm-Hmm. Basically,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

And that's kind of how it kind of wraps up, right?

Track 1:

yeah, it ended. I remember being like, it ended a little weird too.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I really liked Zara too. She was one of my favorite characters.

Track 1:

Zara was the,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Z was kind of like the, um, uh, his mom's like firsthand.

Track 1:

Oh, he brings him to the house in Austin. That's how it ends. They ride the bikes to the. I don't know. I don't think it was a bad book. It wasn't like I was like dreading it while I was reading. I just wasn't like, the more I sit on it, the more I'm like, yeah, I don't think I'd read it again. Like it's not one of those books.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Oh, I definitely wouldn't read it again, but I loved it. I mean, I don't reread books. The only books I'm rereading are credence and migrations. I'll reread those till the end of time.

Track 1:

What did you rate it

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Let's go with four, six.

Track 1:

really that high?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

it.

Track 1:

I think I'm just gonna give it a four.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

a gay romance.

Track 1:

It's not like it, that's not my problem with it. I love that too. I just wanted like, I just wanted more like I, they just deserved like a better romance. It was too fast for me. It was too artificial for me.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

didn't think so.

Track 1:

It felt like too artificial. I don't know.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I don't think it did. I felt like it was deep. I thought it was and sweet. And

Track 1:

Yeah, they were definitely sweet parts. Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Alex like realized like, and I liked it because his mom kept saying like, you know, like I support you fully, but like you have to understand it was like about like understanding, like. The seriousness of his position. And she kept asking like, make sure it's forever because you're the relationship. Like we don't have the luxury of just like casually dating as people in

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Like the relationships that you choose are going to be, you're gonna be known for like, for the rest of your life. So she was like, you need to make sure that this is a forever relationship. And there was a part where he um, said to Henry, like, he wa he wanted, history books were written about them, he wanted Henry to be in his story. And I thought that was really sweet.

Track 1:

No, I thought Henry said that to Alex.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

said that to Henry.

Track 1:

Oh yeah. No, I agree. It was very sweet.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

was

Track 1:

There was just something off about it.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

was more like hard on your sleeve than Henry was.

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Yeah. They were so cute. Did you like the actors in the movie Who was casted for Henry and

Track 1:

Alex said, Alex I thought was great, Henry at sometimes I liked him and sometimes I was like, I don't know. I don't think I envisioned him.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I think I liked them both. I,

Track 1:

Yeah, I mean, I think they were fine.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

handsome and like a, I mean, do they're, they both have to be gay in real life. They both looked gay as shit. You know what's so funny? Is like, like the

Track 1:

I don't think Alex is,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

huh?

Track 1:

I don't think the actor for Alex is.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

do.

Track 1:

I feel like he's been in other stuff. Let me see.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

gotta look him up. That man is, that is a homosexual.

Track 1:

Amy. Don't say that. He's not.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

He's gotta be, look it up.

Track 1:

I mean, it's not gonna, he's 32. Shit. I didn't think he was that old.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

his name?

Track 1:

He was in the kissing booth. Um, Taylor Perez. Taylor Zachar Perez. Um, he was in the kissing booth. That's what I remember him from.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Relationships. Come on. maybe he's not gay. Oh, no, I think he

Track 1:

I don't think he is. Oh really? Maybe he's bi too. I don't know. It doesn't really matter. The other one's, Nicholas, I don't even know how to say his last name. Gil Sign. I think he is though.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

yeah, he looks like he's had like a lot of work done.

Track 1:

He's cuter with a dark hair than blonde hair.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

No, he's super handsome.

Track 1:

He looks like a Peter Pan.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

He does look like Peter Pan.

Track 1:

Um, no, but I think those castings were fine. I think everybody else in the movie was horrible.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I don't think either of them are gay in real life.

Track 1:

Really?

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I don't think so. I damn they did. They're great actors,

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

loved them. Cute.

Track 1:

yeah. The movie I did not like at all. I wouldn't recommend it.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

It was corny.

Track 1:

It was just stupid.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

this girl? She's in a bunch of stuff. Oh, she's in sex life.

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

why I recognized her.

Track 1:

She's the late. Yeah. The whole time I was watching it, I couldn't like, think of her as anything else.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I liked her. not a great actress though.

Track 1:

Uh.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

She's not Sarah Hai. She's in

Track 1:

You know, you know, in sex life, her and that guy, the main character, they like met on, on, um,

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Didn't they date

Track 1:

on stage they got married.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Track 1:

Track 1:

Yeah.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

I don't know. I didn't like that either. I didn't like, because I really liked in the book how we had the stepdad and then like kind of like this rough and tough like Mexican father with like a heavy accent. And then we get that fucking weirdo in the

Track 1:

Mm-Hmm. Yeah. And he didn't even have an accent, and it was like

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

He was like five

a little thing.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

Mm-Hmm.

squadcaster-adg9_1_02-26-2024_111121:

weird.
