Sorry. And so she goes to their camp and she kind of turns it into her own camp and she starts living and then the whole, um, spiritual aspect kind of comes into play. The whole idea of like a witch comes back into play. And, um, She begins just kind of, because she's alone, she begins kind of just speaking aloud and talking to, like, the, to nature and talking to the witch and she says she, like, kind of hears it talking back to her. She's kind of refers to it

So you would think they would like alert somebody and they would have somebody like the army would come and save us or something. And so I think she just holds on to that hope, whereas everybody else just kind of loses that hope. So, all that shit happens, they get off the island, she's stuck on the island, and one day she finds Zoe's remains. So then she knows Zoe basically, like, jumped off a cliff after she lost her baby. And, um, then it goes to the future of an interview with, I think her name was Sasha, and she's like, Well,

So she goes back to her camp to find Duncan and Andrew sitting at her table that she had made drinking some whiskey that she had found and They're kind of like having these quips and Duncan's like I knew this I told you that bitch was still alive and They kind of like say that they came back to destroy all the camera evidence that in the cabin that had been still recording because basically like

And so they both die and. She, she buries them where the compost used to be so like the maggots and stuff wouldn't be like alarming and they would never find their bodies and then she kind of grabs what she wants to grab and she says she sees the witch, which let me find the quote.

Any smell or flies seeming to rise from the heap of waste they left behind. Anyone looking for them would have to hunt for a long, long time. Much like the second fisherman in my story, they had dined with the witch and vanished without a trace. That's the tale that she hears in the beginning of the story. Um, Will you go now, she asked from behind me. I have to. The truth needs to get out and I'm the only one that can tell it. Her cloak was green as the leaves. The hood pushed back. Beneath it, her face was comfortingly familiar and the mouth curved up in an approving smile. It was my own. And that's the last chapter and then it goes to the epilogue and then the epilogue explains like how she goes back, um, and what kind of happens to everybody. So Frank died of a stroke. Zoey jumped off the cliff. We know how Sean died. We know Andrew and Duncan are poisoned. The two women, Gil and the other women, what's the other lady's name? Maxine kind of goes back to her family and kind of disappears. Gil, um, they find out through the, yeah, through the cameras and stuff that she was the one who poisoned. The producer, she was the one who kind of was doing all these bad things behind the Scenes and then so she gets tried and goes to prison for the death of the two producers And through that they kind of find out that she also probably played a part in her own mother's death But they can't like charge her for it. And then it kind of just like is like this was the story Anyway, uh, let me read this. This is kinda how she wraps it up, and I think it's really, like, concise.

The text changed in emails between Sasa, Sasha and Adrian where they'd broken down her interviews and decided who to condemn for a year on the island. They described Zoe as flighty and insubstantial, Duncan as bull headedly competitive, and Frank as the perfect balance of racist, sexist, and an old cloak. Old Soak for the Brexix demographic. I felt it like a slap when they got to me. Madeline Holmstedt. Mousy, stuck up, and awkward. Clearly maladjusted, lone wolf, trying to fit in. Perfect love to hate character. All the effort I made to convince them I was a good fit, but they'd known all along, seen it in me. They put me on the island to be ostracized, to be my own worst enemy against people chosen to resent me. I almost laughed, right there in the gallery, the shock of it percolating into something near hysteria. It was the final peak behind the curtain of the mechanisms behind the worst year of my life. Then she goes on to say, I kept my secret until no one about the witch, the aberration with my face away from the island. I was certain she was a figment of my imagination, a symptom of the horrors of that place. Still, sometimes I think I see her briefly, a shadow in the corner of my eye, a friendly face in the crowd of strangers. I suppose it's ironic that all of those involved in the. Boot search disaster, I've escaped with my freedom. If there was any justice in the world, I probably would have been tried for murder. I don't deny what it was. Although I acted in self defense, I killed two people. Had I not covered it up, I might have even been convicted. No jury in my peers would have understood what it was like out there on the island. Fortunately, I have learned that there is no justice aside from what we make for ourselves. There is only survival. And the victory tells the story. The victor tells a story, sorry. And she was, I think that's why there was such a difference between them, like you were talking about, like we were talking about, like, she's the only one that stood up to him and it was like, yes, but I think she also was the one just being like, this is between right and wrong, you know, just because we're on this island doesn't mean we can't have humanity anymore. Like, even like when she was on the outs with Zoe, she was still worried about Zoe and hoping, like wishing, and she was still worried about, you know, if she has the baby, like, you know. There's not going to be enough nutrients for her or the child like all these different things.
